Marcela Joglov谩 - marathon runner, 20th at the 2019 WCH and 2020 Tokyo Olympian has announced her retirement.
Rower PAVEL SVOJANOVSK脻 passed away suddenly during handing over the prices after competition. Olympic medalist from 1976, 1980. While getting of the podium, he missed a step, ascended into a void and bumped his head. Ambulance was there in 5 minutes but could not help him. Amazing person, involved in projects of developing Czech Olympic hopes and very well respected person in Czech sports field. Such a tragedy. R.I.P. Mr. SVOJANOVSK脻 馃槶馃槶馃槶馃槶
MONA BRORRSON - Biathlon has announced that in
Nov茅 M臎sto na Morav臎 was her last WCH and decided to retire after this season.
ExpandWell, I do support the Czechia change since almost every country in the world is officially called "the republic of x" or "the y republic" so it didn't make much sense for everyone to address the czech especifically like that.
However all Turkiye, Qazakstan, Cymru stuff is ridiculous, just accept your english name for international events lol, don't try that hard to be a snowflake.
Don't forget that Ivory Coast let the whole world call them Cote d'Ivore :-)
has officially announced that they want the 2036 Summer Olympics and become the FIRST COUNTRY to file the official application. Other countries, such as
are still the potential candidates as they have filed the official application yet.
Not exactly retirement, but former hurdler, now silver medalist from London 2012 and double world champion Zuzana Hejnov谩 gave a birth to a boy named Maty谩拧. Congratulations 馃帀馃帀馃帀.
She could not prepare well for Tokyo Olympics, she withdrew despite having the limit and later got pregnant and announced retirement. Not expacted to come back to competing. Wish her all the best 馃挭馃挭馃挭
Natalia Antyukh has been stripped of 400 m Hurdles Gold Medal.
Updated results should now be:
GOLD Lashinda Demus
SILVER Zuzana Hejnov谩
BRONZE Kaliese Spencer
Well, after Beijing 2022 there are currently no Games in Asia as I expect the Winter Games 2030 will be awarded somewhere to North America. As for hosting 2028, I would bet on
to host 2030. So if there are no Games in Asia for about 10 years, I would guess that Seoul has high chances to be selected. Also for 2034 Winter Olympics, my favourite is
, probably Sapporo. After 2036, there is a possibility to be another edition of the Olympic Games in Asia or would again return to Europe/America and maybe even Australia.
As for African countries, discussion about has already been going on here so also in my perspective it is the most possible country on African continent to host the Summer Olympics. But I am also afraid there would have to be done a lot which may meet a lack of funding and public protests.
ExpandWhen will Britain return the stolen silver medal?
If you are talking about the Tokyo 2020 Men's 4x100 m Relay. I suppose we will have to wait for a bit. I guess CJ Ujah's B sample has been retested but I think he is now trying to prove himself innocent as they all do by using some steps to express that the substances got to the body by contaminated food or from food supplement that did not have written the banned substances on the list. But if I am correct, CJ Ujah's sample had 3 banned substances and this is hardly defendable. So I suppose sooner or later, the will have to return the medal. I guess they will prove him guilty, silver will go to
and bronze to
. But I think the final decision will be made some time at the end of the year earliest. Now, it is still too early.
Double Olympic medalist in ice hockey Jussi Jokinen has retired from ice hockey at the age of 38 after spending last 3 season back home in Finland.

Barbora Strycova (tennis) announced her retirement. She is also pregnant
Yes, a little sad for us but we respect that. Anyways, she said that she will not return back on the courts but on the other hand she would like to have a Wimbledon fairwell. So maybe something may happen in All England Club either this or next year :-)
ExpandI was more looking for advice on where to look for stuff? What websites/pages are best?
This is really tricky question. There are some auction sites where you may purchase torches, really rare autographs, Olympic medals, etc. Then get in touch with other collectors, go to ebay. I am managing FB group with around 500 collectors worldwide who sell, buy, trade Olympic memorabilia.
ExpandWell, with Totallympics Media up and running, and now that I鈥檝e pretty much completed my multi-sports games results books collection (for now), it鈥檚 time to move onto step 3 of my multi-sports games madness. I鈥檓 looking to get into collecting (pins, tickets, uniforms), and I鈥檇 love some advice on where to start. @Vojthas gave me some good pointers, but just wanted to see what other users know. I鈥檇 love to hear from @Jan Linha (especially since I found your Facebook group
)
Hey, sorry for being super inactive. As long as sports were not happening, we had tough time with looking for a new job, I did not come for a while. What advice u r looking for?

Gentlemen, all are nice opinions. I agree with Russian way of thinking. Just like chinese. They will never change. I have been here for 5 years and I am afraid in the sports sphere there is something similar like in Russia.
Well, let's wait what December 9th shows. WADA has the last word which must be respected by all other organisations including IOC. Of course, they can sue WADA and go to CAS. Not sure if that might help. But I suppose on December 9th we all might be surprised or shocked by the final decision.
ExpandThose hard sanctions. Thankfully for Russia, Bach doesn鈥檛 like taking action people want him to
I suppose there will be some hard sanctions and we may face some Russia nominated athletes for Tokyo 2020 banned from the Games. Might be similar scenario like in Rio. Russian squad was cut by 111 names and it caused bunch of Olympic reallocation. I guess that Bach and the team around him will accept this way again. And I am afraid there will be many cuts again.
Edited by Jan LinhaAsking for 8 years from WADA is insane. But they most know that. I guess they set such high limit cause they wanna get for him higher punishment even though they know he will surely not get 8 years ban. There are plenty of things to be considered. Firstly I would mention his 3-month ban back in 2014 that was given by "chinese government" so they made sure he will not miss the main part of the season. There should have been 2 year ban. Unfortunately with 2 year ban he would have missed Rio 2016 (not sure about the exact dates but if I remember correctly, i t was in winter so he would have) ..... China just made sure he gets punishment that does not hurt anybody, especially China. If nobody digged into it, nobody would have probably known he surved the ban because China was trying to keep that secret. Then, the sample destroying, well that is the serious issue. But as Sun Yang requested to make this hearing public, it means there is nothing to hide from his side. Or at least he wants to make it look like this way. This decision may shorten his ban. To Summarize, I guess he will ger higher back dated ban with some result cancellations which will results into missing Tokyo 2020 but being able to prepare for Paris 2024, if he still will be able to continue his career 5 years later.
ExpandSun Yang's CAS hearing on November 15th will be streamed live!
Regarding his "English knowledge", it's gonna be fun
ExpandAnd they'll definitely retest his samples from 2016 and before
I guess soon there will happen big retesting from London 2012. Cause the cases close 8 years after Olympics - no retesting later. So this or next year I expect big retesting from London and possible results changes again :-D :-D .... For Rio, still time, but I guess some time after Tokyo, maybe 2021, non -Olympic year.
Late at night for me now. Will post some photos at the weekend :-)
Yeah, I know I can obtain a bunch on eBay. Sometimes my PayPal gets busy. ... But I live in China since 2015, Olympic collector fairs and way far from me. None in Asia.
I am surely going to Tokyo, wanna spend there around a month. Wanna really bring back a lot of stuff.
Was anybody here selected as a volunteer for the Games?
Thanks for making this topic :-) .... I collect autographs of Olympic medalists, currently on number around 7000 pieces, moreover pins, flags, stamps, clothes, tickets, etc. Would like to start collection od Olympic torches.
