ExpandBillie fell out of the top five at the end, so who's ready for an obscure indie entry next year?

TISC is apparently harder to win than the Grammys and the Oscars.
Joking aside, as popular as Billie is, her Barbie song is too low-key for a song contest to win. The Dua Lipa song from the same movie would probably get more points in TISC.
Italy is the first country to win the annual contest three times.
So this means that if gets any points from Italy, they win.

repeat winning in
would be so on-brand for TISC

And the country that can mess up for them is... actually themselves as they are the last country to vote.
Open contest: the most modern music wins
Annual contest: Italian and German retro music in the Top5
Edited by VektorI doubt that I will be able to post my votes today. If I get lucky and have time for it, I will let you know. Good luck to everyone!
@OlympicIRL I have been thinking about a rule change for the Open contest. Or maybe it wouldn't even be a rule change, I just misinterpreted the song eligibility rule. We say that the song must be at least 5 years old. Are we saying this about song itself or the recording?
What I am saying here is what if a song is more than 5 years old, but the original artist makes a new recording, which isn't more than 5 years old? That's not a cover because it was recorded by the original artist. Can a new recording of an old song be submitted for the Open contest if it was recorded by the original artist? I think a recording like that should be eligible even if it differs from the original version in some way, as it's still an old song, performed by the original artist.
I doubt that this would be relevant in most, if not all cases, but I just want to clarify it.
Also, for reference here are my favorite songs so far, mostly the songs with 12 points and some runner-ups. Maybe after 9 editions you can guess where my highest points will go. (And yes, none of these songs won TISC. Only one of them was Top3.)
Glen Hansard, Marketa Irglova - Falling Slowly
The Idan Raichel Project - Bo'ee
Ashe & FINNEAS - Till Forever Falls Apart
The Rumour Said Fire - The Balcony
Kwiat Jabłoni ft. Julia Pietrucha - "Drogi proste"
Since this is my 10th edition participating in this contest I tought I should look up what my current "all-time" ranking is since I joined in 2019.
Fun fact: I have given 12 points to 9 different nations in the 9 editions I participated. Nobody repeated so far on the top. So after 9 editions, these are my Top10 nations...
1st 47 points - 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze
2nd 39 points - 1 gold
3rd 37 points
4th 36 points - 1 silver, 1 bronze
5th 33 points - 1 gold, 1 silver
6th 32 points - 1 gold
7th 32 points
8th 31 points - 1 gold, 1 silver
9th 30 points - 1 gold, 1 bronze
10th 30 points - 2 silver
And now let's see which nations gave the most points to Hungary since I joined...
1st 51 points - 1 silver, 1 bronze
2nd 49 points - 1 gold
3rd 48 points - 2 gold, 1 bronze
4th 45 points - 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze
5th 38 points - 1 silver, 1 bronze
6th 37 points - 2 silver
7th 35 points - 2 silver
8th 33 points - 1 gold, 1 silver
9th 33 points - 1 bronze
10th 32 points - 2 silver, 1 bronze
Of course the one time I pick an English language song we get our best result ever.
Thank you everyone who voted for our song! First ever podium, 152 points, only 11 points from the win, this went beyond my expectations.
@Olympian1010, thank you for organizing this event!
Great Britain and Hungary being more Irish than Ireland is turning out to be a winning strategy so far.
Huh, maybe I shouldn't go to sleep after all.
ExpandIf you're so certain, how about you make your prediction public

I will tell you in a PM because I don't want to publicly foreshadow how I will vote later.
Of all the TISC contests I have entered, I feel like this is the one where I am the most certain about which song will win in the end. But maybe I will be wrong, it happened before.
Hungary and GB being more Irish than Ireland. And GB even "stole" Saoirse Ronan! Now this is a proper TISC anniversary!
I wonder how many Lorde songs will be submitted to TISC before the biggest hits show up. It's like there's a silent agreement that submitting Royals would be unfair.
I am very busy but I will try to find enough time for these. I think I already know what I will submit, the time has come to try out something a bit less Hungarian just for the fun of it.

Sure, I'm open to suggestions. Would it just be a simple poll like "Who is your favourite winner?" or "Who is your favourite runner-up?" and would it be a public poll?
Yeah, just public polls, because it's easier to do it that way.
But maybe we will get some other suggestions in this thread.
Hey @OlympicIRL, I was just thinking, in honor of the 10th anniversary, maybe we could have a poll on which TISC winning song is everyone's favorite? And maybe also have a poll on the TISC runner-ups?
I mean, it's not much, but it would give an opportunity to revisit the winners and the runner-ups for the 10th anniversary.
ExpandThis is the first time I gave 12 to the winning song!
Somehow my 12 points are stuck between the 4th and the 10th place, with the exception of two songs that were barely in the Top20. At this point I would be happy if one of my 12 points winners finish on the podium.
12 points given by Hungary since I joined
Open 2019 - - 10th place
Annual 2020 - - 20th place
Open 2020 - - 4th place
Annual 2021 - - 6th place
Open 2021 - - 4th place
Annual 2022 - - 7th place
Open 2022 - - 17th place
Annual 2023 - - 10th place
And, um, let's just say that if you are fighting for the win and you don't get any points from me, you are one step towards victory.
Open 2019 - - 2 points
Annual 2020 - - 0 points
Open 2020 - - 0 pints
Annual 2021 - - 10 points
Open 2021 - - 0 points
Annual 2022 - - 0 points
Open 2022 - - 0 points
Annual 2023 - - 0 points
Yeah... 2/8 so far. You can say that the Weeknd is the only TISC winner in the past 4 years that I truly supported.

Will the host country miss their own deadline for song submission? The suspense is killing me.
