Billie fell out of the top five at the end, so who's ready for an obscure indie entry next year? :p

TISC is apparently harder to win than the Grammys and the Oscars. :d

Joking aside, as popular as Billie is, her Barbie song is too low-key for a song contest to win. The Dua Lipa song from the same movie would probably get more points in TISC.

@OlympicIRL I have been thinking about a rule change for the Open contest. Or maybe it wouldn't even be a rule change, I just misinterpreted the song eligibility rule. We say that the song must be at least 5 years old. Are we saying this about song itself or the recording?

What I am saying here is what if a song is more than 5 years old, but the original artist makes a new recording, which isn't more than 5 years old? That's not a cover because it was recorded by the original artist. Can a new recording of an old song be submitted for the Open contest if it was recorded by the original artist? I think a recording like that should be eligible even if it differs from the original version in some way, as it's still an old song, performed by the original artist.

I doubt that this would be relevant in most, if not all cases, but I just want to clarify it. :)

Azahriah - introvertált dal

Lyrics

Spoiler

Oh, my-my-my friend

I'm sorry that I wasn't good to you

I'm telling you, at night on the cobblestone streets

I saw a partying crowd

And I pondered about how long it had been

That I felt like a child, come on, come on!

My childhood is covered in concrete

Since a palace dweller is no longer waiting for miracles

Just strolling alone on the roads

Until our final hour has struck (Goodbye)

She could never wait enough, so she buries again

A hundred and one bad memories from her childhood

Her face clings to the image, as she would like you to see it

But in reality, she never, never comes back

Every night and in the morning I would change

I promise, I take the control into my hands that's been waiting for a long time

Don't be mad if I'm a little crazy, but what could I harm?

You, even if I don't write, I don't pick up when you call

I don't understand why you cry

I'm also fed up with being locked in

(And I'm eating chili Soba(noodles) in my room)

Ah, I surround myself with a wall to separate myself

Believe me, I didn't ask for this to end this way

The pit is deep

She would lure, but baby, but don't be afraid!

I see at the end of the tunnel, at the end of the tunnel

The light that you stole, I'm not on top today

Because my existence is in crisis

Just say that "You're okay, no need to be afraid

Let's try to live!"

Because all this is just a small thing in the big world

Because what was beautiful was only what was long ago

That's just this sorrow being discussed

Madness catches up and all my nightmares

When I would rest, but she

She would never tire enough, so she buries again

All the old torment and sorrow

But please don't worry about me, it's still very good for me!

Just think of me, if I never rise again!

Every night and in the morning I would change

But every night and in the morning I would lock myself in

Every night and in the morning I would ch-ch-ch-ch-change

Every night and in the morning I lock myself in.

Of course the one time I pick an English language song we get our best result ever. :d

Thank you everyone who voted for our song! First ever podium, 152 points, only 11 points from the win, this went beyond my expectations.

@Olympian1010, thank you for organizing this event!

Well, here I go with a song that might be unexpected from Hungary, but this 10 year anniversary can't go down without at least one Central/Eastern European country sending a Celtic rock band. This is TISC after all. :d

Paddy and the Rats - Castaway

Lyrics

Spoiler

As I walk along the lonely shore
On life I'm wondering
Don't know why is it so hard to let go
All that I believed
Leave the child inside me on the road
For the man I must become
I hope I find the place where I belong

The night is dark, I need to find
A lighthouse on the coast
It should lead me and it's light my mind
And drive away my ghosts
I early learned the power of love
But many times I've failed
As I could free myself from all my chains
As I could free myself from all my chains

Here I go a castaway
Try to turn my storm to silence
Here I go against the dark to find the light
Here I go against the rain
To find my soaking soul asylum
‘Til I find peace for my broken heart

My prideful mind is always false to my pure and humble heart
Always leads me to the wrong decision ‘till I fall apart
Responsibility, it must win over happiness
But my idealistic soul won't acquiesce
But my idealistic soul won't acquiesce

Here I go a castaway
Try to turn my storm to silence
Here I go against the dark to find the light
Here I go against the rain
To find my soaking soul asylum
‘Til I find peace for my broken heart

So I find myself in doubt
But I'm holding on
It's a lifelong blackout
But I'm holding on
I feel I lost my route
But I'm holding on
Desperately I'm crying out
That I'm holding on

Here I go a castaway
Try to turn my storm to silence
Here I go against the dark to find the light
Here I go against the rain
To find my soaking soul asylum
‘Til I find peace for my broken heart
‘Til I find peace for my broken heart

Sure, I'm open to suggestions. Would it just be a simple poll like "Who is your favourite winner?" or "Who is your favourite runner-up?" and would it be a public poll?

Yeah, just public polls, because it's easier to do it that way.

But maybe we will get some other suggestions in this thread.

Hey @OlympicIRL, I was just thinking, in honor of the 10th anniversary, maybe we could have a poll on which TISC winning song is everyone's favorite? And maybe also have a poll on the TISC runner-ups?

I mean, it's not much, but it would give an opportunity to revisit the winners and the runner-ups for the 10th anniversary. :d

This is the first time I gave 12 to the winning song!

Somehow my 12 points are stuck between the 4th and the 10th place, with the exception of two songs that were barely in the Top20. At this point I would be happy if one of my 12 points winners finish on the podium. :d

12 points given by Hungary since I joined

Open 2019 - :POR - 10th place

Annual 2020 - :NZL - 20th place

Open 2020 - :IRL  - 4th place

Annual 2021 - :USA - 6th place

Open 2021 - :DEN - 4th place

Annual 2022 - :POL - 7th place

Open 2022 - :ISR - 17th place

Annual 2023 - :UKR - 10th place

And, um, let's just say that if you are fighting for the win and you don't get any points from me, you are one step towards victory.

Open 2019 - :NED - 2 points

Annual 2020 - :CAN - 0 points

Open 2020 - :SRB - 0 pints

Annual 2021 - :CAN - 10 points

Open 2021 - :CZE - 0 points

Annual 2022 - :ESP - 0 points

Open 2022 - :FRA - 0 points

Annual 2023 - :ITA - 0 points

Yeah... 2/8 so far. :d You can say that the Weeknd is the only TISC winner in the past 4 years that I truly supported.
