Season started today in Wellington, with Germany taking surprise lead over the US and Canada. Competition concludes tomorrow.

Interestingly, :CAN Canada entered pretty much their four main Olympic candidates into this competition, and it was Chris von Martels, on paper the weakest link, who was the best performing Canadian today by a mile.  :yes

Germany wins in a dramatic conclusion.

:GER 448.568%

:USA 448.381%

:CAN 437.071%

:AUS 391.089%

Young Ben Ebeling takes much of the blame. On both days, he risked it all for the passage on the final centerline (8.3 average), what caused his horse to lose the rhythm going into piaffe (4.75 average). Mid-test piaffes averaged above 7.0.

Drama in Compiegne.

:DEN Cathrine Dufour could not convince Bohemian to enter the arena on Day 2. So they were eliminated. :hairpull:

And since this competition has no discard scores (same as the Olympics), Team Denmark is eliminated as well, after holding the lead previously.  :hairpull:

Pretty nightmarish outcome for the Danes... Bohemian is a massive talent, no doubt about that, but damn... Just imagine this incident repeating in Tokyo, right when the medals are being decided... Back to the drawing board with Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein and Kyra Kyrklund come Monday!
