I think you have to advance to the free skate to have a chance at a quota. An extra men's quota was allocated at the final qualifier 4 years ago because China didn't meet the requirements to send two skaters to the Olympics despite both of them qualifying for the free skate. -
is actually not in a terrible spot to qualify, will have a bit of a hard time securing it's second spot.
