40 years ago the 19th July 1980 started the Moscow 1980 Olympics Famous also due to the boycott of the so-called western world Former Czechoslovakia as a one of the most "devoted" ex-USSR satelite state send a huge delegation of 211 athletes (the biggest in history 163+48) including also the biggest amount of Slovak athletes in the history of TCH olympic appearances (49 = 30+19) Since the games were ultra important for the USSR they were kinda highly followed in the former Czechoslovakia as well. But the results were not very satisfying and the result of "our" delegation was considered as failure, especially because from the 14 medals we won only 2 golds. (the legendary Ota Zaremba in Weightlifting andTCH football team) this was and is the only summer olympics team sport gold medal Czechoslovakia ever won and until Nagano 1998 Czech Rep. Ice Hockey triumph the only Olympic team sport gold for athletes from both Czechos-slovakian parts. Czechoslovakia Football Team.
