Qualified Nations Austria Canada Czech Republic Denmark Finland France Germany Great Britain Italy Kazakhstan Latvia Norway Slovakia Sweden Switzerland United States 2019 Championships Results Men's Ice Hockey IIHF World Championship 2019 Men's Ice Hockey IIHF Division I Group A World Championship 2019 --------------------------------------------------------- Men's Ice Hockey IIHF World Championship 2021 Tournament Format IIHF for well known reasons Expelled and from this year Tournament and replaced them by in 2019 Originally Relegated and 16 Nations will play a Tournament composed of 2 phases Preliminary Round and Knockout Round In the Preliminary Round the teams are divided into 2 Groups of 8 Teams (Group A and Group B) Teams plays once each opponent of its group. The top-four ranked teams of each group advance to the quarter-finals that will be played cross-over. The first-place team in each preliminary-round group plays the fourth-place team of the other group, while the second-place team plays the third-place team of the other group. 1A-4B, 2A-3B, 1B-4A, 2B-3A. The venues and time slots of the games will officially be determined following the conclusion of the preliminary round. In the semi-finals the best-ranked team - criteria: 1) placement in the group, 2) points in the preliminary round, 3) goal difference in the preliminary round, 4) goals scored in the preliminary round, 5) seeding coming into the tournament - will play against the lowest-ranked semi-finalist. The 2nd-best ranked semi-finalist will play the 3rd-best ranked semi-finalist. Both semi-final games will be played in Tampere. The host if qualified, or otherwise the best-ranked semi-finalist according to beforementioned criteria, shall play the early game. The time slots will officially be determined after the quarter-final games. The winning teams of the semi-final games advance to the gold medal game while the semi-final losing teams play for bronze. Not only last 2 years we had no the opportunity to play for the return to the U18 Top Division due covid cancellation of all tournaments, and now even with having probably a team which would play for medals in top division IIHF decided that the U18 tournament will be the only one without teams addition lol... So we will play the division I A against and with the likes of Slaf, Nemec, Mešár, Molnár, Dvorský, Sýkora and co... do not want to sound like too much understimating arrogance but bookmakers already expect some murdering in this tournament ... Wasted chances for this incredible generation which will never have the chance to play for the big medals in this age category...
