  1. It looks like the dressage team event has been canceled as well. Equestrian qualification is going to be mess this cycle.
  2. It was getting ridiculously unsafe as I wrote above.
  3. Lightning in the sky above as swimmers race in an open air pool
  4. Wilson 4th in the men’s 100m backstroke
  5. Ah, full on rainstorm at the venue. Race are going ahead though.
  6. Personally, I had them ranked above Cuba as well. They look much better in the team event than in the duet and solo.
  7. Britton made to the men’s quarterfinals in table tennis. He lost to Martínez 4-2 unfortunately
  8. Yeah, it all goes back to the current attitude of cutting athletes and events over finding other ways to reduce expenses or better allocate quotas.
  9. All of this evening’s swimming finals have been postponed according the results system…
  10. This discussion off topic a bit, so maybe it can be moved elsewhere. However, I would add that I’m not personally under the belief that something needs to be a sport to be included in the Olympic Games. The ancient editions were meant to celebrate the full extent of humanity, and had musical contests and whatnot. I’d love to see artistic competitions return in some form. I think chess opens up a lot of possibilities for the Olympic Movement. I’m nearly certain that I’m in the minority on this, but I think it’s worth thinking about what those mediums of competition can add to the Games.
  11. I caught a brief glimpse of the results at the venue (CCS Channel finally aired the broadcast feed right after the final athlete had gone 😑) It looked like individual quotas for . is listed as DNF in the results, and I believe was not allowed to continue after the second vet inspection. I am also super confused about the status of the team event
  12. I guess it can reasonably assumed then that the two candidates in talks with the EOC are . Link: https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1138211/capralos-two-cities-2027
  13. Lights just went out at the judo venue during the medal matches. You can see a replay on CentroCaribeSports YouTube channel. It’s the second technical issue of the day I’ve seen… Edit: It must have been power in the whole building as the scoreboards had to be restarted.
  14. Can’t say I’m endeared to either Claro’s and CCS Channel’s coverage of the Games. I believe every sport is being broadcast, or nearly every sport at least, but half of them aren’t being shown by either channel each day. What a shame I’m starting to lose my interest in watching these Games. There might have been less sports broadcast last time, but at least those broadcasts were easily accessible. I think this can only be seen as a failure by CentroCaribeSports.
  15. Every individual gold medalist from will be getting gifted $2,900 USD by TELMEX if I understood a Claro readout (with my elementary Spanish) correctly @mrv86
  16. finished 1kg short of a medal in weightlifting
  17. will indeed get a bronze medal in boxing.
  18. must be pleased with how they’ve done so far. Artistic swimmers mixing it up with Colombia, and they’re too swimmers finding the podium.
  19. should be qualified in artistic swimming by my math. also guaranteed a slot on the duet at worst.
  20. women’s basketball doing their best to make me nervously chew off all my fingernails. Down 1 to at half. They need a win to advance to the semifinals.
  21. Just going to throw this out there… There are only 4 out 32 b-boys and b-girls under the age of 20 entered into this competition. Most were born on the 90s, and even some in the late 80s.
  22. She made the semifinals last time as well, but did finished 4th
  23. We’re definitely in agreement on that. There should be a good mix of traditional/new wave, TV friendly/spectator friendly, popular/niche, etc. There’s been too many cuts the last few cycles.
  24. She’s got an interesting story actually. I spoke with her and her coach(?) in Malta. The interview wasn’t great, so I didn’t publish anything. Of course, she doesn’t speak English, so some stuff was probably lost in translation (she speaks French and Chinese). She originally moved to Nice and played for a club there. I think was 5+ years before the idea to play internationally started to gain ground. She loosely represented France (I believe), but there was some sort of problem with the federation. It was eventually proposed she play for Monaco by a club member (who was from Monaco?). They accepted her on to the team, and have been working on the nationality requirements for the last few years. I didn’t spend a lot of time around her, but she seemed very nice.
  25. defends their title and earns the Olympic quota.
