  1. Yeah, every single skater says 1500m is by far the most painful Way more than the longer ones
  2. Just throwing the two fastest times in history out there.
  3. Yeah, makes you wonder...did he time that 100% perfectly, or should he have attacked earlier?
  4. Wow. Beckert is now the 6th fastest skater in history and the first ever non-Dutch born to go under 12:50 12:30 is going down
  5. I find it hard to judge Bergsma's actual technique because there's always 17 meters of limbs flying around when she skates.
  6. Ice looks insanely fast btw, Loubineaud already went sub-13, Beckert and Tsuchiya are way faster for now. The WR is under threat.
  7. Thing is, their straights are often not very good, but some of them have wonderful corner techniques. Nobody does that as nice as Hiroki Hirako did though, who pretty much danced through the corners
  8. Ryosuke Tsuchiya: huge, huge fan of road cycling, apparently he knows exactly what's going on in all the European races. Also, he collects road racing bikes
  9. He trains with Bart Swings though (the inline skating part of the year) Or Swings trains with French coaches as well, I don't know.
  10. At least they're all no Heather Bergsma.
  11. After a bad muscle injury due to an incident with a vehicle around his home (one of those agricultural things) and then rather serious burns when trying to heat up the fireplace, Sjinkie Knegt has made his comeback after a year and two months out of competition
  12. Yeah he watched too many Chad Hedrick videos for now, but I gotta hand it to him: being dead and still keeping the pace pretty decently, even going back from 31's to 30's I believe, deserves some respect. Trademark inline skater gone speed skating.
  13. 12:58.99 and Loubineaud goes sub-13 (nearly 20 seconds faster than his PB) as first French skater in history! He's yelling so loud all of Utah hears it
  14. RIP Morozov. Marcel Bosker knows his feeling.
  15. Timothy Loubineaud opened the 10k. Fun fact: apparently he has no coach. At all. He goes the Yego way: watching videos, trying stuff he sees and figuring it out along the way. He has a French coaching jacket, which he just gives to whoever is willing to help him. Often that's been veteran former skater Tristan Loy of France, but he isn't in SLC and now he gave his jacket to New Zealand's pioneer Shane Dobbin who's standing on the ice for him now
  16. Yeah, her first in-competition miss in over 4 days
  17. Ah yeah, I think I only used that option in a few other races Smart use of the joker, I hit myself every time I don't use it too often.
  18. Lotte Lie made it into the pursuit in 60th
  19. The fuck did @Werloc predict?
  20. Yeah a Russian sweep is more than likely. If there's a chance for something else anywhere (besides a Russian missing the relay paddle) I guess it's in the men's competition, where Aravin and Gorbatcevich just aren't really good enough even on home ice, Repilov probably is (but, you know, that's only one person) and god knows what Janine Pavlichenkova does.
  21. I nearly predicted this!
  22. Seriously though, Tim Singer might be messing up a little with names, at least whether he says Semen or Zemen Pavlichenko, you know who he means. The Dutch Eurosport commentator has pronounced his name like (among others) Pavlovich, Pavlich, Pavjonko, Seje Pavko and whatnot. I can honestly tell you we have nothing to complain about LugeAnnouncer once you've heard the Dutch commentator abuse literally every name in luge, from the slightly harder ones to the likes of Tucker West.
  23. That's pretty terrible Semen.
  24. Great run for Pavlichenko and Aparjods just not doing anything weird and I'll be cheering
