  1. Apparently there's a thing going on in the ancient Aachen Cathedral about relics of one, yes, Saint Corona. This Saint Corona is supposed to be, yeah, you wouldn't believe it, the patron of surviving epidemics. Now I know there's catholic patrons for almost literally every single object, every single occupation and every single word and situation one can think of, but it's nearly impossible to find if this Saint Corona thing is actually true. It's easy to find her being patron of butchers and lumberjacks and stuff, but nothing about epidemics, even though pretty decent media (internationally) is mentioning it. So, to catholics here, is there some sort of non-Wikipedia official list of who is patron of which object, thing, person, tree, situation, mountain or something where this could be verified?
  2. "You're not listening to the rules, so let's all stand around next to each other and just say 'fuck distance'". Right.
  3. 'Enjoying' the fact that it's the end of March and so it's off-season and the rest period anyway @brunamoura As for the Netherlands, Olympic gymnastics champion Sanne Wevers (hello @thiago_simoes) has had a 5 meter long balance beam delivered in her appartment, which was a bit of a challenge as you can see in the video in this tweet (if you can't see the video, I put a tweet with photo in the spoiler) She already has a balance beam, the one of the Rio Olympic final, but in Tokyo they'll use one with a bit different layer on top and so she ordered/asked for this one (with an extra low part underneath it as to not hit her head on the ceiling)
  4. But since social distancing goes above masks (at least according to experts), they'd be fined here Anyhow, looking better I think you're right and the angle of the photo makes them seem closer than they are So from your answers I am deducting in Slovakia it's 0? We've heard about some countries now, in some you can go outside with maximum of three people, in others with five, in others with two...I'm confused by every country having different rules
  5. Like in one of your photos for example A few days ago one would be told to spread if police saw this, by now these people would all receive quite a significant fine since last time I checked, five is more than three (unless these people live together, but who knows)
  6. What if you go to someone's house one by one?
  7. Some more numbers from here: 644 people in intensive care yesterday, that has risen to 761 today, a significantly bigger rise than expected. With 1150 IC beds, which for now could potentially be upgraded to 1500 or so, it's going to be full in a matter of days with no available scalability anymore (since stuff like surgery rooms have already been turned into IC units in most hospitals). Or, as the head of the intensive care 'federation' says: "This is very, very bad news. This way, it'll be full in three days instead of a week. In that case, we won't be in time."
  8. It's always cute when people think or suggest they are not dependent on technology or technology/internet suddenly being gone wouldn't be their problem.
  9. That took two days after passing 400k, which came three days after passing 300k. It might take two more days to get to 600k, but by then we're starting to close in on 100k a day..
  10. Understandable. The thing is, it happens either way...I think I'd prefer to at least have an idea of what's going on than to let myself be isolated from it.
  11. It must have been a mistake, because on other days the numbers did work out with the total number of new cases.
  12. And 90% of people over age 45 don't realize that the world would indeed be royally fucked if you suddenly remove internet Take away internet and on day one you're gonna have thousands of extra traffic deaths all over the world, for starters. Anyway, of course they have to be tactical in when to move the Indy 500 to. It's their main event by a huge margin and it'd be outright dumb to go and hold it on an NFL sunday if that can - at least for now - in any way be avoided.
  13. Luckily most people aren't really inviting people to their homes now, with some exceptions but then it's generally only one or two people with distance between them. I'm glad this part is an advice instead of a 'law' here (for now), it's a rather slippery slope if you start enforcing laws about how many people can be inside one's private house. Again though, luckily most people here aren't being that stupid.
  14. Wait, 4492? I read 6100+ half an hour ago...they mentioned the exact same number of deaths (662), so I wonder how come there's such a difference in the number of cases.
  15. And that is such a massive problem. It sounds cool to be able to do quick tests (temperature check here, some quick real test there), but first the Diamond Princess showed that doesn't work well (half the cases there didn't have any symptoms, so also no fever) and if you have a large amount of false negatives...that means there's a lot of people with the virus walking around thinking they don't have the virus. There you go, your next and bigger problem..
  16. Well you shouldn't have said that, now we've got definitive proof COVID-19 is worse than the Spanish flu
  17. Of course Rules don't count here for people who live together, since - I quote - "last time we checked, someone's house is still private space". If you live in a family with three kids for example, you're of course still allowed to go and take a walk or something, as long as you maintain proper distance from other people. Since both getting fresh air and at least stay moving are both vital parts of one's general health, quite a lot of people are doing so and luckily most people do keep their distance. About inviting people into your house, the quote was: "The advice is not more than three people at the same time, and only if you can manage to keep 1,5 meters of distance between each other."
  18. Yes, but we all know the US judicial system is pretty sucky. It's either overreacting enormously or way underreacting
  19. What's the biggest non-family groups still allowed in your countries? Here no more than three people, obviously everyone has to keep 1,5 meters of distance.
  20. We entirely agree it's not appropriate, obviously. As the article says, Lim's own lawyer says if that happens he should have either pulled it right back up and at the very least apologized. The bigger issue is that he harrassed the guy afterwards, verbally. I think a temporary ban is deserved, a year in prison is just too much. But we can all argue all we want, we won't agree on it
  21. Slovakia, Czech Republic and Austria - among others - have not closed their sea borders yet? I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you!
  22. Small correction on Turkey: apparently Güler and their head coach did test positive, but media seems to be wrong in saying two boxers tested positive. The federation does say (if Google translates well enough) two more boxers are being tested, but their results haven't come back yet and so they haven't named them yet. http://www.turkboks.gov.tr/bilgilendirme.aspx
  23. We are now the 7th country to see 1000+ new cases in one day. Authorities are 'carefully optimistic' though, because apparently there is a slow (slow!) decrease in the number of new people being admitted to hospitals.
