  1. That was quite the start for the Dutch team! I mean, not very surprising since these are four strong boats, all of them medal contenders (not counting the single sculls), but it's good to see the shape is excellent
  2. Well crap, sucks being one of the unlucky few Hope you'll feel at the very least somewhat energized today!
  3. @Fly_like_a_don Great job on the polls these past months! I didn't have time (or knowledge, in many cases) to answer all of them, but it was really cool to see all these different questions As for this one: top-10 is fairly realistic, 9th and even 8th are definitely possible. Anything higher would be rather surprising, anything significantly lower would be a little disappointing.
  4. Yesterday someone somewhere posted a link to the Olympics website, where one could find daily PDF's (only one as of yesterday) with detailed information about positive test numbers (anonymous, sort of). Can't find it anywhere though, anyone got a clue?
  5. Thread: "I just bought Tinder Gold and put my location on the Olympic village and these are the results." That is quite the list of people looking for something they shouldn't be looking for at the moment considering protocols and such
  6. Sjef van den Berg will retire after these Olympics, he can't handle the absolutely maddening and as good as daily attacks of head- and neckaches any longer than until Tokyo is done.
  7. And it's not like it was hard to get for most Brazilian athletes....even those in winter sports already either got it or had the chance to get it..
  8. And Totallympics never left. Which can only bring us to one conclusion: Totallympics > the big websites
  9. Ah, it's been reported here too. No doubt this is connected to what I posted in the off-topic general chat. It's global.
  10. A shitload of websites is unavailable in the Netherlands since 15 minutes or so, think banks, supermarkets, major newspapers, many things. Appararently the same thing is going on in Germany. Anything in your countries? Sounds like some sort of DDOS attack aimed at a DNS provider or something...
  11. Being 'mildly infected' seems like being 'sort of pregnant'? I mean, you either are, or you're not.
  12. With Petecio (PHI) being in their quarter as well..
  13. Flyweight boxer from Burundi is in the second round
  14. PDF's are being added literally right now https://olympics.com/tokyo-2020/olympic-games/en/results/boxing/reports.htm Three weights are online as of this moment, but it's going fast. Edit: A minute later and it's six.
  15. What makes it even worse is that most of them aren't even sick at all. They could compete, no problem, but just aren't allowed to. I mean, it sucks just as badly when you get injured or actually sick now, but at least in that situation you simply can't compete even if you wanted to...
  16. Haven't seen Pidcock in these conditions and on a course like this yet. Although they are of course definitely not the only two serious contenders.
  17. Van der Poel is only travelling today, that's remarkably late considering the difference in conditions (which are conditions that usually favour him less, so he could use the time..).
  18. 1. Churandy Martina winning a gold medal, because I don't know any top athlete who has more of a 'life is good, even when the sports part doesnt work out' attitude than him. 2. No more COVID-related withdrawals for athletes who even aren't actually sick. 3. Gold medals (or medals) for athletes who have a good story behind them: veterans who always missed out on the gold (or a medal), athletes who nobody expected to win, athletes who went through hard personal times (think Jenny Rissveds, who, as she said, 'Three years ago did not even want to be alive anymore', but managed to recover in an impressive fashion), and so on. Sideris Tasiadis, whose girlfriend died the year before Rio, is another example of that.
  19. Doctor taking the meaning of incompetence to a whole different level, dear lord. If we had simply all used mouth wash, we wouldn't have a pandemic !
  20. Reshmie Oogink is out due to a positive COVID test. Which also means the end of her career.
  21. And confirmed. Also announced the end of her career with this
  22. Word on the street is mentioning Dutch taekwondoka Reshmie Oogink..
