  1. I have no idea which match it was, I just remember being impressed by it and then people saying "oh but that happens every now and then"
  2. Part of the tradition is cutting off the toe of a goalkeeper.
  3. No, the actual day is on 5 December (or 6 if you're Belgian)
  4. Which leaves only one option: the referee and his team have earned themselves an early Christmas bonus today
  5. No, it does not. I've seen it happen even in the World Cup, where someone fell in the penalty area and immediately signalled to the ref that he just fell and there was no foul or anything.
  6. I wonder what kind of pussy of an 'athlete' one must be to actually accept that penalty instead of being a man and saying "Hey ref, I got stuck in the grass with my feet and fell, nobody touched me, no penalty". Unbelievable indeed.
  7. Wait, he was in the Olympics as a 19-year old and since then had no international competition ever again?
  8. The less impressive thing is that it's not very regular in terms of when the elections are.....in fact, of those six, 2017 was the only one where the parliament actually made it to the end of their term The one in 2002 was held at the planned date, but only because that parliament 'fell' shortly before it (because of the whole Srebrenica mess) and so getting earlier elections wasn't necessary, but 2003, 2006, 2010 and 2012 were all earlier than planned due to the whole thing exploding.
  9. Manchester City got a penalty at home because Sterling literally stumbled over his own legs People who say we don't need VAR in every serious competition
  10. It depends on which elections Those European ones were all between 30-39 in the last few elections, according to Wikipedia. There's of course media attention and everything, but European elections are nowhere near as big of a thing as the elections for the national parliament, where turnout is of course way higher: 2002: 79% 2003: 80% 2006: 80% 2010: 75% 2012: 75% 2017: 82%
  11. I just really hope they're not gonna build a big grandstand at the Tarzan corner. The dunes and hills of grass are absolutely part of the charm of Zandvoort (and they can get 110.000 people in there anyway, like they did in the biggest days of DTM there, around 15 years ago when Christijan Albers was fighting for wins and the title, DTM was huge here back then for a moment).
  12. Basically it's this dude who comes near the end of the year and gives presents to the children who have been good (since you're only 11 yourself, I won't spoil the fun by saying it's generally the parents buying the presents), whereas the children who have been bad get some sort of punishment (like being brought back to Spain where for whatever reason he comes from even though the whole thing is based on a saint who lived in/near modern day Turkey/Greece). And there's a lot of candies and candy-like objects involved The commercial/current version of Santa Claus was more or less modelled after this, including the whole 'old man with a white beard and red/white clothes and such' thing
  13. Saying "I don't like drop" is like saying "I don't like fruit", as in, there are tons of different kinds and tastes Also, apart from the soooooooo tiring "Zwarte Piet" discussion (get a life or go to work or something instead of using a children's party to protest ) I like everything about Sinterklaas season (apart from the disgusting pepernoten, but kruidnoten, chocolate letters and everything, festive atmosphere, presents, yum)
  14. Nice to see many nations use paper. We do the same here too, making voting machines reliable enough not to be hacked and things like that is almost impossible. If it's digital, it can be hacked.
  15. Do you guys (any nation) vote by machine or by paper, by the way?
  16. It's still the same Zandvoort as it has been for 10-15 years, so if you've watched DTM there in that time, you'll know it Too bad F1 makes no sound anymore basically, but I truly adore Zandvoort, sitting on and walking around in the dunes surrounding the track, hearing the roar of the engines (DTM, A1GP, sadly not F1) echo through the dunes Yep, that last sweeping corner, the Arie Luyendijkbocht, although it's not like in the days of F1 in Zandvoort (when it was huge, as you can see on the light grey line on the map). Personally I have always loved the Tarzanbocht, it kinda has a banking, making for some really good potential overtaking because there's two different lines possible. The Hunserug is awesome as well, a fast flowing uphill part, followed by the Scheivlak, which is yet another really fast and cool turn. The only issue with Zandvoort is that it's a rather small place and it is gonna be absolute horror if they let people go there by car. The only viable option for that is to stop all traffic somewhere 10-15-20km outside of Zandvoort, have some big parkings there and rent a shitload of shuttle busses between parkings and race track. There is a train station a 20-25 minutes walk away which will definitely be overflowing with people, although it's a little problematic that there is only one line going in and out of Zandvoort (it's the final destination of that line, so it stops there and then goes back instead of continues)
  17. @Agger @wumo26 Just came across this (little bit old, 2015) video of a pretty good Dutch TV program and - without taking it all too seriously - it made me think about our Danish people here
  18. Russia was not great and now is doing good, Egypt was great and now is doing not so well....I see effects of karate being Olympic
  19. Oh come on man, how can you as a fan of weightlifting not want to see someone like that fight for gold at the Olympics? Put flags aside if it provides awesome competition, come on The likes of Tian Tao are exactly what makes me enjoy weightlifting, just like that epic, epic 214kg CJ WR for gold by Rahimov in Rio.
