  1. Wettstein takes a dive at the water complex. A spectacular one, but harmless enough.
  2. Cricket score for Hastrup of 119.40. I always had a soft spot for these.
  3. Khoddam hazrati eliminated late on course with some fatigue induced refusals. This means Austria as a team is out. Not that I expect it to happen, but just to put it out there, you can't qualify for Paris if you have 1000 penalties counting in the team competition.
  4. Refusal for Collett. Will London 52 hype survive? Only Ireland and Germany have two clears now? Okay, the US too. And Belgium.
  5. Bit of a disaster ride for Johnstone... Oiwa relives his Tokyo nightmare as once again he gets into trouble on a very similar fence.
  6. Well, it's round about on par with Tokyo. Not very impressive for the standards of Badminton or Kentucky. Refusal for Italy now at the slide.
  7. Blasco retires following a refusal and a drive-by. Spain drops to a team of 3, just like France, Canada, Switzerland, Brazil already did.
  8. Blasco is all over the place too but still clear jumping. The course is proving to be challenging. Also the replay department has finally started working. Already a much improved experience.
  9. Carlile eliminated too. No medal for France, will not be even close, they better get their act together.
  10. Auffarth the second one to go inside the time. Redemption after Tokyo.
  11. Vitkauskas got awarded a refusal, but it could be worth an appeal to see if the horse really stepped backwards on the fence in hand. Pitty for Lithuania if the penalties stay, since this should have been the most competitive stage for Vitkauskas. Edit: Another refusal. He retires, back to the drawing board.
  12. Fouuad Mirza's tack is flying all over the course. Already dropped his bib, and now something else is got untacked behind.
  13. It has improved but there are still no replays which you need for cross-country. Will Coleman was the fastest so far but his finish was not shown, live or taped.
  14. Kitajima goes yee-haw at the last fence, but gets away with it.
  15. Minder eliminated. Didn't see what happened exactly but parted company with Toblerone. Looked great early on but got visibly fatigued.
  16. Pratoni slide is not being shown at all because for some reason the TV director *has to* show every rider finishing in live. Guess he does not know how to add in replays. So much for the most exciting fence of the course. It has already caused problems and we have seen none of it. Water complex hasn't been shown at all too... Just the straightforward galloping obstacles.
  17. Welp, pretty horrible TV direction so far, but it's still early... Nevertheless, the director cutting away while a rider is in the middle of the combination is a reason to be worried.
  18. Standings after dressage... 69.20 76.10 76.60 77.90 84.10 84.20 86.10 87.40 90.10 90.30 97.40 99.00 99.00 100.50 100.80 104.90 Nations in bold are currently in the Olympic qualifying position. USA, New Zealand, Belgium, Italy and Spain arguably had the best dressage in regards to their own expectations. It's all to play for tomorrow.
  19. Let's take a moment to appreciate the fact that Andrew Hoy made his World Championships debut in 1978.
  20. Somehow I overlooked the fact that Sweden chose their most experienced combination, Niklas Lindback & Focus Filiocus, to be their individual representative. Astonishingly bad team selection. Already he was the best of the Swedes in dressage, the only one under 30, and there is every chance he stays on top for the rest of the weekend as well...
  21. Pretty impressive two days of dressage for Spain. Certainly above my expectations. Of course, they still have to prove themselves in the jumping phases, but maybe a Spanish qualification would not be the biggest surprise in the world after all.
  22. Delightful test for Karin Donckers. Well done. She goes into 9th, but really underscored by one of the judges... Tough luck representing Belgium.
  23. Kyrgyz-Tajik war is over after one afternoon.
