  1. No chance. Currently their top ranked rider is 1500 positions away from qualification.
  2. So, this weekend concluded the eventing season in Europe and North America, and pretty much sealed the deal on Olympic qualification. Teams qualified - Everyone has the Certificate of Capability. Nilson da Silva failed, so Brazil still needs to find the third rider (they can do that next season). Thailand meanwhile has nobody to fill the reserve slot (and it will probably stay that way). Individuals qualified (spots are awarded to NOCs, not the specific athletes) Group A Tim Lips (Bayro) - 236 Merel Blom (Ceda) - 111 Group B Karin Donckers (Fletcha van't Verahof) - 105 Francisco Gavino Gonzalez (Source de la Faye) - 92 Group C Aleksandr Markov (Leader) - 176 Valery Martyshev (Primero) - 159 Group D Karl Slezak (Fernhill Wishes) - 58 Colleen Loach (Qorry Blue d'Argouges) - 57 Group E Lauren Billys (Castle Larchfield Purdy) - 111 Carlos Lobos (Ranco) - 71 Ronald Zabala-Goetschel (Wundermaske) - 3 Group F Victoria Scott-Legendre (Song du Magay) - 12 Camilla Kruger (Biarritz) - 3 Usman Khan (Azad Kashmir) - 2 Group G Fouaad Mirza (Fernhill Facetime) - 34 Thomas Heffernan Ho (Tayberry) - 7 Additional Miloslav Prihoda Jr. (Ferreolus Lat) - 141 Alexander Zelenko (Carlo Grande Jr.) - 112 Aliaksandr Faminou (Martinie) - 107 Peter T. Flarup (Fascination) - 104 Miroslav Trunda (Shutterflyke) - 99 Lea Siegl (Fighting Line) - 79 Incomplete MERs - Everything is decided, aside from Group E and Group F. Second quota in Group E should be decided in a direct battle between Carlos Lobos and Ronald Zabala at Campo de Mayo CCI4*-L in two weeks time. Australian-based Usman Khan has a chance to take over the second spot away from Zimbabwe. He is entered for Wallaby Hill CCI4*-L in two weeks time, where he will essentially have to complete with MER, which would give him 3 points irregardless of his finishing position. This seems to be a massive chance for Pakistan, but it's by no means a done deal.
  3. I guess Canada will qualify through Pan Ams, as Erynn Ballard was ahead of Guatemala (first non-qualifier).
  4. @heywoodu you can update your 2021-2023 calendar. Ermelo got awarded the hosting rights of Dressage World Championships for Young Horses in that period. I can promise you some Maksim Mrvica tunes. http://www.eurodressage.com/2019/11/17/ermelo-beats-verden-race-hosting-2021-2023-world-young-horse-championships
  5. Oh, now I see it. Well, Iceland rather belongs to the third-tier nations anyway, so it all fits...
  6. If I'm getting this right, Iceland will likely receive a free pass (meaning, play-off with no opponents)?
  7. Brazil is now in an interesting situation. They have Rafael Losano and Marcelo Tosi qualified from this year, and also Marcio Jorge from 2018 WEG. I think that's enough, however 2018 WEG was not a "pure" 5* event, so maybe it's not enough by itself... Let's just hope da Silva completes his requirements in Ocala, and thus leaves us without any doubts.
  8. Final results... Pratoni del Vivaro CCI4*-L Rafael Mamprin Losano (Fuiloda) - 32.50 + 17.20 + 0.00 Carlos Parro (Calcourt Landline) - 30.50 + 11.20 + WD (No MER!) Bao Yingfeng (Teseo) - 34.40 + 17.20 + 12.00 Bianba Ciren (Tropic d'Heauville) - 38.50 + RET (No MER!) Sun Huadong (Lady Chin van't Moerven) - 35.80 + 26.80 + 7.60 Arinadtha Chavatanont (Bolleybawn Prince) - 36.00 + 12.40 + 0.00 Ocala Jockey Club CCI4*-L Nilson Moreira da Silva (Cash) - 47.60 (No MER!) + EL Nilson Moreira da Silva (Rock Phantom) - 37.90 + 24.80 + WD (No MER!)
  9. Francisco Gavino has done it too... He climbed to 8th - enough to clinch a quota for Spain. Later on I'll post the final analysis of the individual qualification.
  10. Looks like everyone in Pratoni passed the second inspection. Now only show jumping is left. EDIT: Not quite. Parro withdrew overnight.
  11. Hazel Shannon & Willingapark Clifford win the Adelaide Three-Day Event fot the third time. Thus she becomes only the 5th rider in history to win the same 5* event with the same horse three times: Capt. Mark Phillips & Great Ovation (Badminton '71, '72, '74) Kim Severson & Winsome Adante (Kentucky '02, '04, '05) Andrew Nicholson & Avebury (Burghley '12, '13, '14) Michael Jung & fischerRocana (Kentucky '15, '16, '17) Hazel Shannon & Willingapark Clifford (Adelaide '16, '18, '19)
  12. Too late. You just helped ignite hckosice's jinx thing for the next long, long while.
  13. 2022 World Championships (dressage, jumping, para-dressage, vaulting) - Herning 2022 World Championships (eventing, driving) - Pratoni del Vivaro 2022 World Championships (endurance, reining) - to be announced on November 19 So officially the World Equestrian Games no longer exist... 2022 World Cup Finals - Leipzig 2023 World Cup Finals - Omaha 2024 World Cup Finals - Riyadh
  14. After cross-country... Pratoni del Vivaro CCI4*-L Rafael Mamprin Losano (Fuiloda) - 32.50 + 17.20 Carlos Parro (Calcourt Landline) - 30.50 + 11.20 Bao Yingfeng (Teseo) - 34.40 + 17.20 Bianba Ciren (Tropic d'Heauville) - 38.50 + RET (No MER!) Sun Huadong (Lady Chin van't Moerven) - 35.80 + 26.80 Arinadtha Chavatanont (Bolleybawn Prince) - 36.00 + 12.40 + Merel Blom (Ceda) - 27.70 + 15.60 Ocala Jockey Club CCI4*-L Nilson Moreira da Silva (Cash) - 47.60 (No MER!) + EL Nilson Moreira da Silva (Rock Phantom) - 37.90 + 24.80 It's looking good for all, however the horse inspection and show jumping can not be taken for granted. Blom dropped to 11th place, causing Russia to stay firmly on top of the reallocation list. However, this will be irrelevant if Brazil, China and Thailand make it. This is also pretty much the last chance to secure individual quota places. Francisco Gavino climbed from 28th to 9th today. If he can move up to 8th or higher, then Spain will likely take a surprise quota!
  15. Retirements for both Flarup and Wettstein. Denmark is likely safe for Tokyo, but Ecuador could miss out now.
  16. Standings after stressage (that's how eventers call it)... Everyone survived, aside from Nilson da Silva & Cash (not very surprising). Brazil is down to three hopes, but then again, Carlos Parro is probably the safest bet of them all. Even though he hasn't started at long format with Calcourt Landline since the 2015 Pan Am Games. Meanwhile, Merel Blom sits in 4th place. Most likely enough to overtake Russia in the reallocation list. Pratoni del Vivaro CCI4*-L Rafael Mamprin Losano (Fuiloda) - 32.50 Carlos Parro (Calcourt Landline) - 30.50 Bao Yingfeng (Teseo) - 34.40 Bianba Ciren (Tropic d'Heauville) - 38.50 Sun Huadong (Lady Chin van't Moerven) - 35.80 Arinadtha Chavatanont (Bolleybawn Prince) - 36.00 + Merel Blom (Ceda) - 27.70 Ocala Jockey Club CCI4*-L Nilson Moreira da Silva (Cash) - 47.60 (No MER!) Nilson Moreira da Silva (Rock Phantom) - 37.90
  17. If it was up to me, I'd remove all those nonsense team events (including pursuit) and mass start of course. Traditional speed skating events are completely different than track cycling events. So what's up with this urge to copy track cycling formats? It's so fake.
  18. I feel like Mexico losing two games before the decisive match may turn out to be crucial. I hope to be proven wrong though.
  19. Not sure what to think about this investment. I don't see us as "safe" qualifiers, even if we avoid some fo the best from Europe.
  20. Just rewatched Night of the Living Dead (1968) at the Zagreb Film Festival. Damn, that film seems to be really relevant these days. It's as if it predicted America's mass shootings of today - media decribes zombies as people suffering from mass murderer epidemic.
