  1. I will never not be bitter about Georgiadou not going to the Olympics
  2. Now they are back together apparently
  3. Greek National Championships this weekend. After 18 yo Siskos broke the NR in Doha in the men's 200 backstroke with 1:56.64, now Christou takes the record back with 1:56.34! Good to have such competition in that event and hopefully one of them will break the record again in Belgrade and Paris.
  4. Gionis qualified for his 6th Olympics! He is now tied with a few other athletes for the most Olympic appearances by a Greek, though if Psarra qualifies in archery she will make her 7th appearance and hold the record by herself.
  5. Thanks for the clarification. So in the end it won't make a difference for us, and probably that third athlete who gets the quota will come from Final B...
  6. 2024 European Taekwondo Championships: SILVER: Men -54kg - Konstantinos Dimitropoulos BRONZE: Men -74 kg - Charalampos Flouskounis Men -87 kg - Vasileios Tholiotis Women -57 kg - Fani Tzeli
  7. https://kopilasia.gr/νέα/sti-loukerni-i-ethniki-gia-tin-prokrisi/ This is the article, it says in two different places that there are 3 tickets for the women's single sculls...
  8. Our rowing federation posted an article about this regatta and said there are 3 quotas up for grabs in Lucerne in the women's single sculls. For the other events we are competing in, they said there are 2 quotas. Now, do we know if there is a reallocation or was this a typo? Knowing our federation I will say it's probably a typo, but if not then that's massive for our girl as she's probably 4th-6th favourite, so she'd have a much better chance with 3 quotas than 2.
  9. Gionis played really well from what I've seen so far, even if he had to win his last match 4-3, he had four 4-0 wins and one 4-1 win until then, so I hope he will still be fresh for tomorrow's very important quota match against the Chinese. I don't think he will take it to be honest but he should be one of the favourites to get one of the remaining 3 quotas as his level here is very high so far...
  10. That's one thing about Greece, communists never took over (we had a complicated Civil War), but their descendants/followers are still alive and still have a political party (KKE) and still get a small amount of votes in our elections Tentoglou's coach (who is originally Bulgarian) recently ran for office as a member of this party...
  11. You said that about gemista too, please don't come back to Greece because then there will be no food left for the rest of us
  12. Even Greeks sometimes struggle to eat them without making a mess, and getting powdered sugar all over their clothes and the table/floor etc, so I must say I'm very impressed
  13. I don't know about other countries but in Greece it's not expensive to vote in Eurovision. It's like 20 euro for 20 votes or something like that.
  14. It's the same here, the radical left is full of miserable people who find something to be offended about and complain 24/7, and hate anything to do with the Greek flag or history or religion. They will gladly protest in the streets for issues/injustices impacting other countries that have absolutely nothing to do with Greece, but commemorating Pontian Greek genocide victims (annual day is 19 May so it's coming up)? Protesting for Cyprus or for the rights of the oppressed Greek minority in Albania? They do not care about these "nationalistic" issues and people like myself who care about these issues are seen by them as "racists" "[insert whatever word] - phobes" "fascists" "neo Nazis" etc. I have attended some of these "right wing" "national issues" rallies in the past and I will agree that occasionally a small minority of the people there chanted really terrible things which I did not agree with about immigrants and about people from some of our neighbouring countries, but the left wing media exaggerates very much. Most of the people there are not "fascists" or "racists". They pretend to care about "human rights" but really they care about human rights for everyone else in the world except for other Greeks...
  15. We did pretty well here, but my personal favourite are koulourakia, and probably they are the most popular Greek cookie as well, but they did not make the list but obscure ones like moustokouloura and amygdalota did?
  16. 2009-born Ariadni Mirtsiou got 4th in the women's pole vault as she cleared 4.20 m. So we now have the top 2 in the U18 women's pole vault this year, both are 15 year olds, as Anastasia Boumpoulidi cleared 4.25 a few weeks ago. The real interesting race though is going to be who gets the third spot for Greece in Paris in the women's pole vault. Either 38 yo Kyriakopoulou makes her 5th Olympics or 23 yo Adamopoulou makes her debut . Here Kyriakopoulou got 2nd with 4.40 (first result of the year for her, she skipped indoors) and Adamopoulou was third with 4.20 (she has 4.50 from a few weeks ago and is probably the front runner as she got the standard for Rome and was the third Greek to do so, so Kyriakopoulou won't be able to make it via ranking now).
  17. We will miss this sport for the first time in 68 years
  18. This is exactly what I was saying earlier, and people complained, but they bent the rules for Kharlan so now this really opened the door to this, now everyone is going to expect them to change the rules and give them wildcards too.
  19. I think it's way too optimistic to predict that 6 countries will return, unfortunately. I think getting 2-3 more would be a step in the right direction. Also, I doubt Sweden will withdraw unless there is some sort of mass withdrawal which includes many countries.
  20. "We had 2 in Tokyo, I think both will make it again" Neither of them ended up making it , and our final number for Paris is 2 and not 3-4 as I predicted
  21. took their "spot" it seems, they got 3 here, and they have Gega in athletics, so 4 quotas total so far and only 1 is actually Albanian
  22. She placed better in TOISC than in ESC
  23. This streak was so underrated, and to do it as a non-Big 5 country in an era where Eurovision regularly had 40+ competing countries And in 2012 we were top 10 in televoting but the juries killed Eleftheria, and also Cyprus having a similar type of song and doing well also probably took a lot of votes both from our diaspora and from people who like that type of music. And in 2013 we made top 10 again, so it really could've been 10 years
  24. We lost by 6 in Eindhoven We lost our way in the second part of the first period, where we led 5-6 and then went down 10-6. Then we were down 26-16 and 29-20 and launched a mini-comeback, with the final score being 31-25. Congratulations @heywoodu@CCB@Dennis
