  1. Insane that Heilmann and Kharun tied! Those two + Chmielewski could be very dangerous for a long time. Milak almost looks like a grandpa compared to them ...
  2. Amazing silver for Poland! Great new generation (Masiuk included).
  3. Good point (I guess you weren't talking exclusively about men?). Pilato, Miressi, Galossi, Paltrinieri, Martinenghi, even Ceccon. Maybe you could also add Razzetti and Burdisso. Italy so far with only 5 individual finals in olympic disiplines, less than Germany. Italy could end up with less than 10 individual finals in olympic events. Even 2 years ago it seemed unthinkable, but France is clearly outperforming Italy (and might be the european number 1 right now).
  4. For me races are more enjoyable when they are close, but i guess you have a different and unique definition.
  5. Hafnaoui had 3 fast races in his career. 1 at the olympics and 2 here, the rest of the time he is completely invisible. Too obvious sadly.
  6. The level has exploded in most disciplines. Interesting when we also take the explosion of performances in running and cycling (Pogacar, Wingegaard) into account. Obviously there are new drugs on the market. Hopefully Germany will catch up soon.
  7. Not sure what you mean with fun, but Finke still looks like the clear favorite.
  8. Interesting to see that France might have the 4th most individual finals in olympic disciplines, only behind USA, Australia and China, but ahead of GB, Canada, Japan and Italy. Not too long ago their swimming program was completely dead. Sending Marchand to Bowman and naturalizing Kirpichnikov of course helped.
  9. Very impressive performance by them so far, return to the golden age of Michelle Smith. After 50 % of the individual olympic disciplines they have 2 finals, as many as Turkey, South Africa and Spain combined. Only 1 less than Brazil/Netherlands/South Korea/Hungary and half as many as GB/Japan. With a little bit more luck they could have won as many individual medals as GB.
  10. Absolutely don't think that he has the speed, but we will see. I think Short, Finke and maybe Hafanoui could go 7:36.
  11. Didn't actually know that. I thought that i had read recently that the next 2 world championships will be in Asia as well (so good for Australia and China).
  12. Very impressive performance by Gonzalez in men's 200 fly, should also be a good sign for his 200 IM and 200 back.
  14. The 200 breast is much less competitive, so she should make it unless she drowns.
  15. Maybe now we won't have to wait so long for another world championship in Budapest ... only having them there every 4 years isn't enough ...
  16. Personally i think that it will be Short, Finke and Hafanoui. Don't really see anyone else winning a medal, but we will see.
  17. Hopefully another proof that history keeps repeating itself. In 2019 he won gold in the 10 km open water race (while another german guy won bronze), then he missed the 800 free final and then he went on to win 1500 free gold ... hopefully it will be the same this time.
  18. How the hell do we still have no start lists for tomorrow (swimming)? This has nothing to do with budget, it is just plain laziness. You have to get the impression that they are trying their best to not promote this event.
  19. Amazing result for Australia. I thought that Sereda or Tamai would be the ones to watch, but the australian guy used his chance when the chinese athletes made some mistakes. Will be interesting to see if we will see both chinese guys again in Paris next year ...
  20. b) Would be „interesting“ if Diaz would be allowed to compete and we would get a podium of Diaz, Pichardo and a Cuban guy -> A podium with 3 athletes from the same nation all representing different nations. Not sure how often we had something like this before?
  21. I am not an expert of italian sport, but what about: a) Both volleyball teams b) Men's/Women's long jump + Men's triple jump c) Men's 100 m back d) Men's/Women's team pursuit
  22. Obviously it is impossible to make predictions one year out, but i will still give my predictions and it might be funny to look back at them in a year: Men's 10 km open water (Wellbrock) Women's 10 km open water (Beck) Track cycling women's team sprint Women's K1 (Funk) Not sure about the 5th, probably one out of men's single sculls (Zeidler), women's track cycling sprint (Friedrich), eventing individual (Jung), dressage individual (Von Bredow-Werndl), men's 1500 m free (Wellbrock), men's K4 500 m, women's keirin (Friedrich), women's C1 (Herzog/Lilik), eventing team, dressage team, men's 400 m free (Märtens), men's field hockey, men's javelin throw (Weber), men's decathlon (Neugebauer), women's 25 m pistol (Vennekamp) or men's 25 m rapid fire pistol (Peter/Reitz).
  23. I am not an expert of dutch sport, but how do you not mention track cycling men's (team) sprint?
  24. What do you mean with "out of nowhere"?
