  1. Very impressive performance by them so far, return to the golden age of Michelle Smith. After 50 % of the individual olympic disciplines they have 2 finals, as many as Turkey, South Africa and Spain combined. Only 1 less than Brazil/Netherlands/South Korea/Hungary and half as many as GB/Japan. With a little bit more luck they could have won as many individual medals as GB.
  2. Absolutely don't think that he has the speed, but we will see. I think Short, Finke and maybe Hafanoui could go 7:36.
  3. Didn't actually know that. I thought that i had read recently that the next 2 world championships will be in Asia as well (so good for Australia and China).
  4. Very impressive performance by Gonzalez in men's 200 fly, should also be a good sign for his 200 IM and 200 back.
  6. The 200 breast is much less competitive, so she should make it unless she drowns.
  7. Maybe now we won't have to wait so long for another world championship in Budapest ... only having them there every 4 years isn't enough ...
  8. Personally i think that it will be Short, Finke and Hafanoui. Don't really see anyone else winning a medal, but we will see.
  9. Hopefully another proof that history keeps repeating itself. In 2019 he won gold in the 10 km open water race (while another german guy won bronze), then he missed the 800 free final and then he went on to win 1500 free gold ... hopefully it will be the same this time.
  10. How the hell do we still have no start lists for tomorrow (swimming)? This has nothing to do with budget, it is just plain laziness. You have to get the impression that they are trying their best to not promote this event.
  11. Amazing result for Australia. I thought that Sereda or Tamai would be the ones to watch, but the australian guy used his chance when the chinese athletes made some mistakes. Will be interesting to see if we will see both chinese guys again in Paris next year ...
  12. b) Would be „interesting“ if Diaz would be allowed to compete and we would get a podium of Diaz, Pichardo and a Cuban guy -> A podium with 3 athletes from the same nation all representing different nations. Not sure how often we had something like this before?
  13. I am not an expert of italian sport, but what about: a) Both volleyball teams b) Men's/Women's long jump + Men's triple jump c) Men's 100 m back d) Men's/Women's team pursuit
  14. Obviously it is impossible to make predictions one year out, but i will still give my predictions and it might be funny to look back at them in a year: Men's 10 km open water (Wellbrock) Women's 10 km open water (Beck) Track cycling women's team sprint Women's K1 (Funk) Not sure about the 5th, probably one out of men's single sculls (Zeidler), women's track cycling sprint (Friedrich), eventing individual (Jung), dressage individual (Von Bredow-Werndl), men's 1500 m free (Wellbrock), men's K4 500 m, women's keirin (Friedrich), women's C1 (Herzog/Lilik), eventing team, dressage team, men's 400 m free (Märtens), men's field hockey, men's javelin throw (Weber), men's decathlon (Neugebauer), women's 25 m pistol (Vennekamp) or men's 25 m rapid fire pistol (Peter/Reitz).
  15. I am not an expert of dutch sport, but how do you not mention track cycling men's (team) sprint?
  16. What do you mean with "out of nowhere"?
  17. Wenigstens das ... die Ergebnisse im Finale sind bisher sehr enttäuschend. In so einem schwachen Feld muss man es erst einmal schaffen keine Medaille zu gewinnen.
  18. I think it should be something like: Top X divers are seeded for the final and all others have to qualify for the final. They should definitely get rid of the semifinal, although this format probably leads to more surprises. The young british woman normally should have sleepwalked to the 10 m final, but then she had a couple bad dives in the semifinal and didn't qualify for the final.
  19. 105 points between 2nd and 3rd, but only 70 points between 3rd and 12th. Insane how low the level is in many/most disciplines. The young british woman blew a huge chance to win bronze. At least she is young enough that she will probably get many more chances.
  20. I absolutely don't see that happening. Basketball isn't big enough for the public to care enough/create enough pressure. Schröder clearly harmed the team and should be punished, but sadly i don't see that happening. What he said about Kleber was very disrespectful. The german coach is in a very difficult spot. If he punishes Schröder, he might destroy his relationship with him (Schröder is the captain of this team) and if he doesn't punish him, the team might lose respect for the coach.
  21. Kleber is out for Germany after Schröder criticized him for not playing at Eurobasket last year. We have to assume that Schröder is completely brain****. This was the best team Germany ever had and they could have fought for a medal, but now the tournament is over before it even started. Not having Kleber, Hartenstein or Jallow is a huge loss for Germany. Also Reaves playing for the US instead doesn't help either ...
  22. Great news ... feels like 90 % of the german athletes are injured/out of shape. German athletics would be in an infinitely better shape if all the german athletes would be close to their best. Ansah, Ansah-Peprah, Agyekum, Mohumed, Farken, Heß, Wagner, Zernikel, Baehre, Sosna, Vetter, Röhler, Hofmann, Mayer, Schwab, Müller, Klosterhalfen, Klein, Kejeta, Burkard, Krause, Kallabis, Granz, Reh, Wender, Mihambo, Kienast, Otchere, Eckhardt, Maduka, Gierisch, Maisch, Hussong, Fuchs ... At this point even 2 medals at the world championships would be a surprise ... Weber + one out of Pudenz/Neugebauer/Kaul/Potye
  23. Sehr gut, hoffentlich geht es im Becken so weiter …
  24. Paltrinieri much closer than in the 10 km race. Could be seen as an encouraging sign. Really weird that Klemet (and Romanchuk) were so far off. Klemet was clearly better than the Italians in the 10 km race and is also clearly better over 400 m, but somehow he couldn’t be close to them in the 5 km race. Beck has proven once again that she doesn’t need tricks to dominate. At the moment she is clearly the best in the world apart from maybe Grimes.
