  1. The world series begins today in Hamilton upset 26-21. What a collapse by the nation this season. Forced to combine due to money problems and now losing to non-core teams.
  2. That bottom quarter of the men's bracket has opened up.
  3. The week's ranking and MER eligible events. Dressage West Palm Beach - CDI3* Eventing Quillota - CCI4*-S Jumping Abu Dhabi - CSIO5* Thermal - CSI3* Wellington - CSI3* Eventing gets its first start for ranking points. The west side of the world has the majority of events this week with Wellington hosting its first jumping event of 12 between now and April. However, the biggest event will be in Abu Dhabi.
  4. Here's the link Currently the format has the top six unqualified nations at the World Championships qualifying to one of three tournaments. Since Oceania won't finish in the top 12, the two best performing continents at the World Championships (likely Europe and Africa) will qualify two teams from their respective continental qualifier while the other two continents will only qualify one team.
  5. Week 2 Results Men's Events Event Tour Winner Pts Won Sony Open in Hawaii PGA Tour Si Woo Kim 39.38 Women's Events No events held this week
  6. I'd like to repeat that from an Olympic qualifier point of view, not having an 9-12 ranking matches was a dumb move. The third place team in Group IV has a huge advantage. With teams like Bahrain, Belgium and the United States they are able to run-up the goal differential and finish 9th and be in an excellent position to qualify to the final Olympic qualification event. Of course we could have a third place team in a different group end with a 4W-1L record.
  7. Jumping Abu Dhabi CSI4*-W Results The following have achieved 1/3 MER result Joe Whitaker (Hulahupe Jr) Billy Twomey (Chat Bottle E.D.) Duarte Seabra (Dourados) Jessica Burke (Nikey HH) Tim Gredley (Medoc de Toxandria) Abdel Said (Bonne Amie) Ahmad Saber Hamcho (Frenchy VDS) Moufi Owaida Al Karbi (Baloucenta) Michael Duffy (Cinca) Bianca Babanitz (Caipidor) Shane Breen (Cuick Star Kervec) Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi (Dalida van de Zuuthoeve) Abdurakhmon Abdullaev (Valour) Trevor Breen (Highland President) Ioli Mytilineou (L'artiste de Toxandra) Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi (Chacolu) Abdullah Mohd Al Marri (James V.D. Oude Heihoef) Gerfried Puck (Equitron Naxcel V) UAE making their intention to get a Group F team quota known. Syria's attempt on the other hand didn't go so well with only 2020 Olympian Hamcho getting an MER result. Uzbekistan's athlete might be one to watch in the future, he'll be turning 19 this year.
  8. Week 1 Results Men's Events Event Tour Winner Pts Won Sentry Tournament of Champions PGA Tour Jon Rahm 37.68 Women's Events Event Tour Winner Pts Won Hitachi Ladies Classic TLPGA Kokona Sakurai 4.00
  9. Does anyone have any insight on the Cape Verde team? They were non-existent until a couple of years ago and now I'd give them a chance against Brazil. Was there a big investment? Most of the players seem to play in Portugal, did they search for players there with Cape Verde ancestry?
  10. It looked like if Iran was going to go for the upset against Montenegro early in the second half, but Montenegro was able to regain control of the match
  11. Looking at the calendar, I see there are seven weeks with events in Wellington from January to March. This make it a good place to farm ranking points without the stress of traveling and still have enough time to fly over to Europe (or stay and travel here). However, only Schopf (who's American-born) and Venezuela's Patricia Ferrando competed this week. Perhaps more will attend in two weeks.
  12. This weekend's ranking and MER eligible events Dressage Neustadt Dosse - CDI3* Basel - CDI-W Wellington - CDI-W Wellington - CDI3* Jumping Abu Dhabi - CSI4*-W The first Eventing event will be next week.
  13. This is women's rugby sevens, not men's. Samoa is a lot weaker on the women's side.
  14. PNG tends to win that match more often than not.
  15. I agree, now that Olympic quotas are on the line, I imagine the US teams will show up more often in the Pro Tour.
  16. Assuming you believe that modern pentathlon is heading towards a triathlon like format then fencing would have to go
  17. Jumping - Dannevirke CSI1*-W Results The following have achieved 1/3 MER results Phillip Steiner (Cassina Dior) Maurice Beatson (Central Park) Julie Davey (LT Holst Freda) Brooke Edgecombe (LT Holst Andrea) Tegan Fitzsimon (Windermere Cappuccino)

  19. Just a reminder, for platinum level marathons, the top 5 are considered to reach the qualification standard, regardless of time
  20. Is there a list of L4 judges anywhere? I'd like to keep track on whether a nation can fulfill their team/individual quota.
  21. This is the first weekend where athletes/horses can obtain ranking points and the all important MER standard. The following events are scheduled: Dressage Exloo - CDI3* Thermal - CDI-W Thermal - CDI3* Jumping Dannevirk - CSI1*-W Eventing won't have its first event for another 2 weeks.
  22. Looking at history, I wouldn't trust Russia to uphold an Olympic truce
  23. I agree, it also helps that France is hosting and I imagine they will push hard at preventing nations from boycotting. If they can keep the United States on board then I doubt anyone outside of maybe Ukraine will end up boycotting.
  24. I imagine the scenario would require Russia to no longer advance/attack outside of the eastern Oblasts to minimize those instances. Another option would be for the IOC to allow the sport federations to decide and hope a slow trickle effect would prevent it from causing a PR nightmare and then maybe reassess in June 2024. The question would be which sport federation will take the first hit? Tennis seems like the most likely option since the athletes are already competing. Judo is another option since they allowed athletes to compete before reversing their stance later in 2022.
  25. I think there's enough support among sport officials (even those from Western nations) that the inclusion of Russia/Belarus to be possible. At least in some sports. It comes down to real politics and possibly the state of the war as we approach the end of 2023.
