  1. South Carolina...I was impressed once when I was in Iceland and the guy in the restaurant not only knew where that was, but also knew that the college I went to was good at (American) football!
  2. For LA28, it will be nice because events will start around lunchtime for me (East Coast...3 hours difference), but won't finish until 1 or 2am...but I am a teacher and have summers off, so I could stay up late each night...
  3. (BTW, I'm impressed at all you Europeans up watching the marathon...do you not ever sleep? )
  4. So how long will the American be out front like this? Edit: Apparently she likes taking the lead. This is on her Wikipedia page, about her race at 2023 Budapest: "Sullivan took the lead in the first section of the race in the hot weather. The field of elites at one point was nearly two minutes behind her as the announcers told her story and she reached unimpeded for her water bottles. She faded in the later miles to finish 58th in 2:44:24 while Amane Beriso took the win in 2:24:23."
  5. Zahid Valencia into the Gold Medal match in 86kg. He took down Kamran Ghasempour , who is a 2x WCH gold medalist. Valencia hasn't lost a match this year...hopefully the streak will continue! Will face Ishiguro Hayato in the GMM tomorrow.
  6. They have the .1 FS system in Speed Climbing as well. With that, it's not a random start. They have the 3-2-1 beeps, so they know exactly when to go...except they have to time their response to some (arbitrary) 0.1 sec *after* the last beep. Let's set it at the beep.
  7. I had just watched the Paris 2024 mountain bike event the other day...congrats again to Rissveds !
  8. with a high schooler in the Bronze medal match in 61kg! Jax Forrest is 18 years old, 2025 US and PanAm champ. Lost in the semis to Tokyo Gold medalist Zaur Uguev
  9. WTT Champions Macao 2025 Tomorrow will see the results, with Semifinals mid-day, then the Finals at night. For the Women, it's an all bout: Chen Xingtong vs. Wang Manyu; and Sun Yingsha vs. Kuai Man For the Men, it's Asia vs. not Asia: Jang Woojin vs. Wang Chuqin ; and Hugo Calderano vs. Anders Lind
  10. US still with one athlete hanging in there, and she made it to the Gold medal bout. Yoseline Perez will take on Huang Hsiao-Wen in the W 54kg bout tomorrow. She won the Youth Worlds in 2022, but this will be her first Senior Worlds medal (and the only one for in this championship).
  11. Finally got to watch a few highlights from today and managed to see the relay live. Glad the US didn't bumble the baton, as our men tend to do. Two golds for today! And congrats to all the other medallists/athletes as well!
  12. Sending you a PM. Thanks! And to all, there was a feature I just discovered that may be useful to others. It's a way to change what you see when you click on a Forum thread, specifically a way to automatically jump to the last comment you've seen, or the last comment posted (instead of the default setting of going to the top of the first page if you click the title). To do this, just click your username in the top right and click Account Settings. Then find Content View Behavior in the list on the left and you can change it. Hope that helps!
  13. Congrats to our winners at Guiyang! Double gold for ! Women Gold - Meng Shixue Silver - Jimin Jeong Bronze - Emma Hunt Men Gold - Chu Shouhong Silver - Ryo Omasa Bronze - Leander Carmanns And here are our final Speed World Cup standings for 2025. Women Gold - Emma Hunt Silver - Yafei Zhou Gold - Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi Men Gold - Kiromal Katibin Silver - Sam Watson Bronze - Ryo Omasa See you in Seoul next week for the WCH! (I feel like Sam Watson is going to come back with a vengeance.)
  14. Look at what Guiyang did to their skyline. Promoting the comp! Even had pics of climbers, etc. So cool!
  15. And despite going out in the semis, Emma Hunt will win the overall Speed title this year.
  16. And Zach Hammer slips in the 1/4s. A cruel sport Speed Climbing is... Per the commentators Kiromal still should win the overall Speed WC title.
  17. Though Athletics and Table Tennis are both live, I'm choosing Sport Climbing right now...Sam Watson and Kiromal Katibin both knocked out in R16! (Kiromal had a big slip, and Sam had a smaller one.)
  18. What happened to Kim?
  19. In this message board, is there way to ignore/hide certain forums or threads? I am a part of another online community where that is an option, and didn't know if that feature was available here.
  20. Here's. our lineups for tomorrow's final Speed World Cup! Note that Sam Watson is in the bottom half of the line-up! (He had a slip on his second run.) 21. Totally anecdotal, but I work at a school that has a swim team. The mom of one of the students on the swim team told my wife that they picked swimming because they wanted a 'cheap' sport. Come to find out, the trunks were significantly more expensive than they thought (in the hundreds of dollars, if I'm not mistaken), and there is a limit as to how many times you can wear them in competition (like, 10 times or less). It surprised me, too. (And if that's the case in high school competition, I can only imagine at the elite level.)
  22. Oops! Fixed.

  25. BTW, Under the LA28 menu in the top bar, the third option says WCH count in the road to MiCo26 instead of LA28.
