  1. Lol our female karateca is so bad. She got punched in the face like a hundred times by the brazilian woman, it's cruel to say but it was a bit funny to watch.
  2. OMG Kenia Lechuga won the gold out of nowhere in rowing. Insane final 200m from her, she was 3rd and not even in the picture before that. What a disappointment to lose this one...
  3. Battle for the 6th place on the "super saturday" We still have 8 solid chances of gold: -Men's hockey (should be a win in any normal day). -both trinquete in pelota (should be two easy wins). -1500m free W swimming (should be easy). -lightning medal race (2 point advantage over Brazil, which means they have to beat them or they lose it). - lightweight single sculls W and the 8 (both should be very close though). - men's football final (it's Honduras but you never know at this level). Other than this we also have 3 other finals in pelota (2 which are even, one impossible) and the team final in racquetball (quite hard). Also, I don't have a precise idea of the chances of our lightweight fours in rowing. Oh, and I have simply no clue who is supposed to win in bodybuilding. Now I think their remaining chances are the 4 speed skating, Alvear in Judo, 2 in compound archery and the road races in cycling? Don't know what their chances are like in Wrestling and Karate...
  4. We're close, just got to turn around a 9 goal deficit and hello final
  5. Updated as of August 9th, 2019
  6. Ok, that's it for the match. Canada will have to go through the play-offs, but I actually have faith in their chances there if they can avoid Belgium in the draw.
  7. It's much more similar to bandy and football (soccer) than it is to Ice Hockey.
  8. The girls are particularly prone to making silly technical fouls. The men's game flows quite a bit more. About penalty retaking, just know that 95% of the time it's because it hit the foot of a defender, which isn't allowed.
  9. Iran woke up and won. Korea is another surprise.
  10. This Cuba team lost 3-0 twice to our B team few days ago, I'm shocked with this.
  11. Argentina-Canada, 1st of the few decisive matches of these tournaments in a few hours. Let's see who will qualify... Chile or Cuba?
  12. USA dsq apparently.
  13. We're the only dumb team that doesn't use a male breaststroker but oh well, our only decent female freestyle sprinter decided to quit swimming just a month before this competition, so there's no option other than throw Grabich there to race against women, I guess...
  14. That was @Olympian1010 I think he also said the windsurfer from Aruba was "the best by far" in this competition
  15. Another weak performance from Pignatiello... lol she will win 3 golds but still be a disappointment in my view. Too much social media and too little focus in the big competitions from this girl.
  16. Despite ranking says otherwise, I think the women's final will be way tougher for Argentina.
  17. Injured.
  18. Realistic remaining gold medal chances for Argentina... 2 in swimming (800 & 1500 Free W) 3/4 in pelota 2 in rowing (LW single sculls women & Double sculls men). Could be more if, as konig suggested, some of our rowers didn't take the heats seriously. 2 in hockey 2 in football (both teams in final) 1 in Judo (48kg) 2 in sailing (RSX men & Lightning) Except for the women's football all these chances are above 50%. Will this be enough to beat Colombia? We'll see.
  19. I don't think it's about communication access, it's just that some countries are less sensitive to racial issues due to demographic or cultural reasons. Russia and Serbia aren't exactly a melting pot of races in the way the US or western Europe are currently (yes, I know that Russia is huge but most of the players are ethnic russians). The more contact you have with people from other races, the more sensitive to these issues you are.
  20. I'm not sure he was mocking Korea, it could be a reference to them going to Tokyo. Still racist, but a bit less insulting. Some of the players of our handball team made the same gesture the other day while on the podium. In some countries, in particular those that don't have a significant asian population in them, that gesture isn't really thought as offensive (It's wrong, but I'm trying to give some context).
  21. He's been garbage for 4 years. I think he doped in 2015, he's never been close to those times before or after that year.
  22. Wow our rowing is a DISASTER. All terrible results except the 2 gold favorites (W single LW and M double sculls).
  23. As stated in the first post Pato is the official national sport. It's like Polo but with players passing a big ball and trying to score by throwing it through a ring (think something like Quidditch from Harry Potter but with horses instead of magical broomsticks). However, this sport is not popular at all, I'd say 99% of the people in Argentina don't know it even exists. Only football is really popular. Then a bunch of sports all with more or less equal following but insignificant compared to football. They vary in popularity according to current success.
  24. 4:06:something from a month ago.
  25. This was the most disappointing gold, pretty weak time.
