Looking ahead to tomorrow's team events - Men's Epee - are the 7th seeds and will start off against 26th seed in the round of 32. If they can get through that, they'll face either 23rd seed or 10th seed in the last 16 with possible quarterfinal against 2nd seed . are the defending champions in this event. Women's Foil - are the 7th seeds and have bye to the last 16 where they will take on 10th seed . Get through that and likely quarterfinal against 2nd seed awaits. Gold for David Sosnov and Silver for Mohammed Belbouab. Takes us to 4 medals so far with good prospects for further success in the team events.

All Final!!
-
2 more medals guaranteed in the men's foil - David Sosnov and Mohammed Belbouab both through to the semi finals. Callum Penman unfortunately fell to Henrik Barby - it looked like he may have taken a bit of a knock to his hand in the early stages. Could be looking at an all final if the semis work out for us.
-
Sosnov, Penman and Belbouab all safely through to the quarter finals.

guaranteed 2 medals on day 1! It's double bronze after Tristan Lumineau made it through to the semifinals of the men's epee. He fell 15-10 to 12th seed Fedor Khaperskiy who went on to take the title. Amelie Tsang came so close to getting to the gold medal match having pulled it back to 14-14. 7th seed Ludovica Franzoni just edged it 15-14.
-
Update from the elimination rounds. Men's Epee Tristan Lumineau has made it through to the last 16 pretty comfortably winning both of his matches 15-8. He'll take on 17th seed Odinn Bindas later this afternoon. Cador Beautyman got through to the round of 64 before losing out to 21st seed Riccardo Cedrone. He will finish in 47th place. Cheney Zhu put in a couple of great performances in the elimination rounds - including taking out 4th seed Nikita Gorin in the round of 64. Unfortunately, he came unstuck in the round of 32 against 29th seed Alon Sarid. He finishes in 31st overall. Women's Foil Amelie Tsang is still going strong, having reached the last 16. Megan Elliott got through to the round of 32 before falling to 13th seed Gili Kuritzky. Her final ranking was 32nd overall. Zoe Wagstaff had a bye to the round of 64 but was defeated by 10th seed Uliana-Dumitrita Josan. She finishes the competition in 55th place overall.

I've started so I might as well finish (although not entirely sure why I started this ) Women's Epee: Harriet Hillier is the 40th seed Kseniya Kushtan is the 68th seed Emma Mitzova is the 72nd seed Olivia Eadie is the 78th seed. Men's Foil - 's strongest discipline. Callum Penman is the 6th seed David Sosnov is the 8th seed David Kelly is the 33rd seed Mohammed Belbouab is the 49th seed Men's Sabre: Eiger Swinscow is the 50th seed Joe Evans is the 51st seed John White is the 55th seed Guy Lumsden is the 61st seed. No info yet on the pools - will update the post when the information becomes available.
-
Finally, Women's Sabre: Hui Xin Sezille went into the competition as the 20th seed and progresses to the elimination round in 23rd place having won 4 of her 6 pool matches. is the 20th seed. Maya Sutton also lived up to her seeding, finishing in a tie for 33rd place with 3 wins from 5. Keira D-Sallows moderately under performed - going in as 28th seed she finished in 39th with 3 wins from 6 - but is still good enough to progress to the eliminations. Ava Davies makes it a full house - advancing to the elimination round in 51st place having won 2 of her opening 6 bouts.
-
And the good news keeps on coming. This time from the Women's Foil. Amelie Tsang was the 19th seed but emerges from the pool round in 6th place having won 5 of her 6 bouts. Megan Elliott advances in 45th place having won 3 out of 6 bouts. Zoe Wagstaff is also through having won 2 from 5 of her pool matches - good enough for 55th place so broadly in line with her original seeding. Rachel Adams missed out on advancing to the elimination rounds, finishing in 70th place having only won 1 bout from 5.
-
European Juniors update I didn't have this on my bingo card, but Tristan Lumineau was the top qualifier from the pool stage winning all of his bouts for the lost of just 12 points. Cador Beautyman won 4 out of his 6 bouts and advances in a tie for 42nd place. Cheney Zhu performed very well considering he was the lowest ranked fencer in the event. He won 3 out of 6 bouts and advances in a tie for 61st place. Unfortunately, Fin Bennet is eliminated, having only won 2 of his opening 6 bouts resulting in him being ranked in 97th place.
-
European Juniors get underway tomorrow with Men's Epee, Women's Foil and Women's Sabre kicking things off. Men's Epee: Tristan Lumineau is the 19th seed Cador Beautyman is the 37th seed Fin Bennet is the 74th seed Cheney Zhu is the 126th (and lowest) seeded fencer. Lumineau has been drawn in pool 18. He'll face 18th seed Arkadii Kardava. the rest of his opponents will be lower ranked - 54th, 55th, 90th, 91st and 125th. Beautyman has been drawn in same pool as top seed Domonkos Pelle. He'll also face tricky opponent in 36th seed Julius Edelmann. The rest of the pool are lower ranked opponents - 72nd, 73rd, 108th and 109th seeds. Bennet has been drawn in pool 2 against 2nd seed Nikita Gorin. Bennet is the 4th seed in the pool so will have his work cut out for him. Zhu has been drawn in pool 17. He'll face 17th seed Bence Balazs but given Zhu is the lowest ranked fencer in competition, he may find it difficult to progress. The top 94 ranked fencers after the pool round will continue to the elimination rounds. (32 fencers eliminated during pool round) Women's Foil Amelie Tsang is the 19th seed Zoe Wagstaff is the 52nd seed Megan Elliott is the 53rd seed Rachel Adams is the 64th seed Tsang is drawn in pool 8 alongside 8th seed Irina Zorina but should be able to see of the other lower ranked opponents. Wagstaff is drawn in pool 2 alongside 2nd seed Stefania Chasovnikova, 25th seed Petra Polonyi and 28th seed Lihy Peer Koren so will definitely have her work cut out. Likewise, Elliott is drawn in pool 1 against top seed Milana Levchuk, 26th seed Alara Atmaca and 27th seed Polina Kozlova. Adams is in pool 12 and has been drawn alongside 12th seed Keren Aye and 15th seed Zhou Xinyao 66 fencers will progress to the elimination rounds (22 fencers eliminated during the pool round) Women's Sabre Hui Xin Sezille is the 20th seed Keira D-Sallows 28th seed Maya Sutton is the 35th seed Ava Davies is the 49th seed Sezille is the 2nd highest ranked fencer drawn in pool 3 alongside 3rd seed Emese Domonkos. Just glad nobody picks me up on my countless errors.

Paris? You really are living in the past

There was a lot of good stuff with the BBC coverage - although some of the presenter did go a bit over the top, and the fillers that they used were pretty cringeworthy. If there's one thing they need to figure out is how to show events like this without having the constant switching - from the channel to IPlayer and back to channel.
-
Not sure we've picked this up previously, but it looks like Carolina Stutchbury has switched to compete for . As European Silver medalist, it's safe to say she was probably one of the strongest talents in GB Fencing. Hopefully some of the positive results we're seeing in the junior ranks can come up before LA.
