  1. Legendary Oakland Raiders HC and later TV color analyst John Madden passed away at the age of 85.
  2. In case someone missed my pre-season martial update, Burtasova is nee Pavlova
  3. Carl Lewis admitted to using doping and WA won't do anything about it so those DDR records will stand or else WA would also have to address American athletes. This can of worms stays closed.
  4. FIFA annulled some of the Olympic team matches in the 60s and 70s before - even though they were played before the U-21 eligibility era. This infamously cost Kazimierz Deyna his 100 cap milestone (his 100th NT game was the 1978 World Cup game vs Argentina celebrated as such at the time). I see they found new ways to manipulate the "official" statistics even in the era where everyone is a professional football player by design. Well, Algeria can still extend their streak during Afcon next month?
  5. Maryna Gasienica-Daniel also tested positive (no sympthoms) and will miss Lienz.
  6. Trevon Diggs gets interception #11 on Washington's first snap of the game. Last time someone had 11 INT in a single season was 1981 (Everson Walls, also a Cowboys player).
  7. Yes, it is Flamengo. Apparently there was a bidding war and back on Friday the news was Internacional offered more money. Today it came out Flamengo outbid them
  8. Paulo Sousa phoned our FA chief today and informed him of wanting to take the Internacional job. The only question is how ugly this divorce will be
  9. Cleveland Browns might be looking for a new QB next season. Baker Mayfield keeps throwing stupid INTs and the roster is too good to have this happen so often.
  10. Some rumours in the Polish press that NT coach Paulo Sousa might sign a contract with Internacional Porto Alegre as soon as Sunday. Given the tough WC playoffs draw he is a dead man walking here since he'd be fired if/when we fail to qualify anyway.
  11. @heywoodu Why did Charlene Sloof stop competing for Holland though?
  12. Well, we've seen this in swimming and some of these 2008-2009 WR have been broken since despite the odds. WA still recognizes the DDR WR so there's no way they will suddenly take away Warholm or McLaughlin's WRs for instance. And I bet the shoe companies will come up with a solution to by-pass the new regs.
  13. The DJ in question said the Belarussian anthem was under BLR anyway. Good thing they didn't mix up the Finnish anthem? It's such a nonsense it makes you wonder how these people think others are so stupid to buy this crap? You have an internantional match between two teams and you always play the anthems before. Rushing to play the anthem? Obviously it was done on purpose to annoy Lukashenka's countrymen. It's laughable to hear these excuses. Meanwhile the dictator remains in charge for 27 years and the powerful democracies can only sit on their hands since it's not worth to fight for democracy in Belarus. Russia would only raise the gas prices in response (which is happenning right now anyway) and everyone is fucked (except Germany thanks to Nord Stream 2).
  14. I'm surprised more teams don't try to give citizenship to some of these Norwegians? I mean Lie's mother is Belgian so it wasn't a clear cut buyout but some of those lesser names will be wasted while they could have had some careers representing Belgium or Holland?
  15. This was probably done on purpose since I refuse to believe people can be that stupid. Since European politicians are unwilling to do anything about Lukashenka for 27 years already we have to live with these kind of "mistakes"?
  16. WA has moved in to do something about the wonder shoes allegations. But new rules will only come into effect in November 2024 and who knows if that actually works? https://www.bbc.com/sport/athletics/59774714
  17. Vinatzer with a great run. Koyama guaranteed a Top 10 finish!
  18. Also two 6th places in a row for Maryna Gasienica-Daniel
  19. Three days after visiting Dubai Belinda Bencic has tested positive for COVID
  20. First time two skiers score points in the same World Cup race since Aspen 2008 slalom (Karasinska 25th, A. Gasienica-Daniel 28th) Maybe we won't have to wait 13 years for the next one?
  21. Win #72 for Shiffrin! Hector & Gisin on the podium. Gasienica-Daniel 6th and Luczak 20th! One of the best races for the non-existent Polish alpine skiing in the last 30 years
  22. Magdalena Luczak with World Cup points in Courchevel GS
  23. Apparently Russia played Finland using the old Soviet Union uniforms?
  24. You do realize there is a division among the communist fractions & parties across the world? It's been that way ever since Trotskiy was exiled from the Soviet Union. Again, people who have never experieced communism suddenly support communism & Marxism like something positive or a "lesser evil". I got another news for you, the "lesser evil" excuse was used in 1981 when communists introduced martial law in Poland already. Call me again when there is a martial law in Canada and that is actually sold as something positive
