  2. But Lithuania should qualify through the European Tournament and therefore they won't be eligible for an individual quota. But if Lithuania don't qualify then he will be eligible for an individual quota.

For the Men's European individual qualification these European athletes are currently in Individual Qualification places: Men's -69kg Briken Calja is currently ranked 10th and should qualify or Men's -77kg Erkand Qerimaj is currently ranked 14th, however Albania can only qualify 1 athlete, so the NF would have to choose between Calja and Qerimaj. Men's -85kg Antonis Dudoglo is currently ranked 14th with a 3kg advantage over 15th. Men's -105kg Arturs Plesnieks is currently ranked 5th. Men's +105kg Mart Seim is ranked 5th. Potentially 4 additional European nations could qualify via Individual rankings. For the men's 85/94/105/+105 there is 1 more chance to increase their individual total and ranking in at the IWF Grand Prix in Tehran at the end of May.
  4. After the European Women's Qualification Event qualified for Rio. The only Non-Qualified European woman currently in the top 10 of the World Rankings is Boyanka Kostova from , she is number 1 in the -58kg rankings and her individual quota is 99.9999% assured, unless she fails a doping test.
  5. Great job by Fowler to secure Olympic Qualification by beating his German opponent in the box-off. GB had 9 boxers in the semi-finals, GB qualifies 9 athletes for Rio 2016 - AMAZING RESULTS! Hopefully Savannah Marshall can qualify at the World Championships. Whilst Cyrus Pattinson and Pat McCormack should both qualify in either Sofia or Baku.
  6. That's a shame for Pakistan, but at least one new country qualified. Pakistan have another fair chance tomorrow in the Women's -67kg, she has a 1 in 4 chance of qualifying! Maybe chances for Nepal and Afghanistan as well. You can always rely on Taekwondo to qualify new nations thanks to their excelent 4 quota limit.
  7. I understand your point, but qualifying an athlete will encourage UK Sport to fund an elite program in the Road to Tokyo 2020 and help the long term growth of the sport within GB. For the Women's whoever is chosen, Smith or Tiler, could break into the Top 10 in their event and then secure elite women's funding with a podium potential package. Event though we won't win a medal, it is still important to compete to inspire more people to participate in Weighlifting and grow the sport.

  9. CAMBODIA QUALIFIES FOR RIO 2016 multiple twitter sources have said how Sorn Seavmey beat the Filipino Alora to take Gold at the 2016 Asian Taekwondo Olympic Qualification tournament in the Women's +67kg!!

  11. I think the entire of GB sport need to take a leaf out of the British Weightlifting book, they have finally grasped that if you send lots of athletes ... they will do well!! On the Men's Olympic standings GB are currently 3rd with 2 events left, despite not having a single lifter in an A final or a single lifter finish in the top 10 in any event. Sport, especially qualification, is all about tactics. If Cycling and Judo sent full squads to every points collecting qualification event then the likelihood is that more atheltes would have had more chances to win points, qualifying more athletes for Rio 2016. Please, please, please can other sports learn from Weightlifting and start to send full squads to all qualification events.

  15. No Brits reached the Olympic Nomination Time today, but these athletes are likely to be selected anyway (British swimming normally has very high standards, and then accepts everyone anyway!) Women's 100m Backstroke - Georgia Davies (only 0.5 seconds off), Lizzie Simmonds (1 second off) Men's 200m Butterfly - winner was 3.5 seconds off the time needed, unlikely that anyone will be selected Women's 200m Breastroke - Chloe Tutton smashed the British record by 1.5 seconds and Molly Renshaw also broke the British record and finished second Men's 100m Backstroke - Chris Walker-Hebborn was 0.7 seconds outside the qualfication time, Tancock finished second
  16. Fowler and Okolie have both won as well (okolie even managed to beat a Turkish boxer in Turkey!!) So GB have 9 athletes 1 win away from Rio!! A fantastic result for GB if all can qualify

  22. Great results for GB yesterday, every boxer won. Gb have 11 boxers in the quarterfinals so hopefully most can qualify

The winner will only qualify if they reach the nomination standard, so the Olympic qualifiers are: Men's 400m Freestyle - James Guy Men's 100m Breaststroke- Adam Peaty Women's 400m IM- Hannah Miley We have a wildcard system where more athletes can be added, I expect Aimee Willmott and Ross Murdoch will be added to the Olympic team later
