Troubles in Switzerland.

They had to cancel the exhibition matches between Switzerland and France (both in Fribourg) scheduled for Today and Tomorrow. The reason is a positive test for coronavirus in the :FRA team.

As the Swiss Ice Hockey Association reported on its website, the French national team played against Italy last weekend. Two days after the match, the teams learned of two positive cases that occurred in the Italian team.

As consequence last Tuesday's exhibition game between Switzerland and Italy had to be canceled, as well as Friday's match between the Helvetians and France due to the incubation period. However, subsequent PCR tests revealed one coronavirus case in the French team. Therefore, the organizers in Fribourg canceled not only todays match, but also the second Saturday's match.

The Swiss prematurely even ended the preparatory camp in Cham. All players and members of the team now will have to pass another round of PCR tests. Coach Patrick Fischer's team will then meet next Tuesday, May 11, and will fly to Latvia two days later. The final two exhibition games against the world Champs host Latvia will take place in Riga on 14 and 15 May.

Seven (7)  :ITA Players were tested positive for coronavirus in the last testing session... Participation in the World Championships is in question according to some rumors. :hairpull:

two big :SUI NHL stars Timo Meier and Nico Hischier have decided to join the :SUI team for the world championships :woot:

Huge reinforcement also for :GER Tom Kuhnhackl the double Stanley cup champion with Pittsburgh Penguins confirmed his interest to play at the world champs

Forwards Isac Lundestrom (Anaheim) and Marcus Sorensen (San Jose) will reinforce :SWE , Sadly "Tre Kronor" can't count on help of defencers Erik Karlsson (San Jose) and Rasmus Dahlin (Buffalo) both refused the invitation.

Bad news for :SVK Richard Pánik and Andrej Sekera will not play in Riga, both refused the invitation for this year. in other hand the young goalie Adam Húska and forward Robert Lantoši confirmed they will play in Riga, Still waiting on the response of another youngsters Marián Studenič from New Jersey and Christián Jaroš (San Jose)

In the same time our 3 U18 kids survived another cut !!! Juraj Slafkovský, Šimon Nemec and Samuel Kňažko are still in the team preparing for the World champs. Megaboarding the Hype trainnnnnnnnnnn

    • That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
    • That’s not a long distance, it’s barely a 2h flight and there is no difference in timezone. Easily doable for fans as well.
