Any last minute flag bearer predictions?

Something a little more “out there” for the male flag-bearer but I’ll go with Nick Hoag, and Ellie Black for the women.

I’m curious, as we’re only days out from the Olympics I’m wondering… who are your picks for the Canadian medalists at Paris? Already shared mine here, although perhaps it’s a tad on the optimistic side.

Prediction:

Male: Damien Warner or Andre de Grasse

Female: Laurence Vincent Lapointe or a member of the W8 or Christa Deguchi

Don’t think they would go with Damian* Warner, given he was already a flagbearer at the closing ceremony in Rio 2016. DeGrasse would be a good option, but he’s not even in the Olympic village. Is Vincent Lapointe even in Paris either?

If they were chosen, then I'm sure they'd be there.

But we all know it's going to be Celine Dion.

You did such a good job of summarizing Canada's chances, there's not much to add.

Sometimes I think they'll get 30 with 10 gold, other times I think they'll be lucky to get 20 with 5 gold. So somewhere in there. Swimming will be the biggest indicator, as there are so many borderline medal opportunities there. Masse, McNeil, Kharoun and the women's relays could add up to 5 or6, or none at all. There could be other surprises there as well, since a few of our swimmers have been improving dramatically this year. Basketball, too. Could be 3 medals with a gold, could be no medals at all. Canada has so many potentials which will be very exciting to watch. Or very frustrating. If 4ths+5ths > 1sts+2nds+3rds again, I might lose even more of my hair by pulling it out.
