Wow, I was just checking yesterday's results, came across the semi and saw:

 

 

My first thought: "Surely Martikan has a son and named him Michal as well?!"

 

Hot damn, 45 years old and after 7 years a medal again, I thought he had long retired  Legend!

He retired after failing to win the internal quota for Tokyo, he then became the head coach of , in Tokyo 2020 he was in Austrian team as coach

The next year he returned to an active athlete, tried to represent or to qualify for Paris but ICF did not allow his nationality switch so quickly to be able to try to qualify for Paris, so he returned to national Trials and made it to the Slovak team again and yesterday won a medal at the World Cup final

 

Quite a TV story can be made from his life
