The reports are showing :GER as DSQ so pretty sure that their second rider crossed the line before the first rider had completed their lap. Have a feeling the same thing happened to GB at the London Olympics in 2012.

Not sure but :GER were in last place by a long way at the 125m (half lap) timing.

Maybe it's a problem at the start?

Canada likely to fail to make it through to round 1 so at least at this event, Poland will outscore them.

Canada is probably winner of the continental, virtually we need more than 200 points from both world cups.

If it was a technical issue they would have been entitled to restart. If it was rider error then they wouldn't get restart and I would have thought they would have still ridden through the full distance because with their quality, they probably could still have done enough to get into top 8.

It's bloody annoying not having any video or text commentary to see what the hell is going on

The live timing briefly showed them as 19 seconds after 125m which is what a good team would take to cover 250m.

It's all very strange

Looks like Poland are up against Japan in the 1st round - that's a winnable match up for Poland if they can show the form that they had in the Europeans.

Japan recently is really strong. I think start of the race was bad this time.

Disappointing run for :IRL women pursuit team after their great performance at Europeans. They finish 3.444 seconds behind :USA in their 1st round match-up.

The same names? I think this team is  safe for olympic direct quota.

    • no idea. I just repeated what I read  but I won't be surprised if they make a mistake like this. the officials here are usually terrible in reading the rules. if I remember correctly they sent an Ice hockey team to the Games back in 2017 but most of the players were ineligible to play per IIHF rules and they played some friendlies instead    btw there is a federation, but not an ISU member. Ice Skating (which has a very very limited activity here) was a part of Skating (roller sports) federation but now moved to Skiing federation which officially changed its name to Skiing and Winter Sports Federation.

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
    • true, but was expecting India to get troubles from Australia, not from New Zealand, and specially not by being bowled out. Makes the group phase interesting though
