 Oilers lead 3-1 after the 2nd period. Could’ve been worse though, late in the 2nd period, the Oilers had a two-man advantage for a minute, and then a power-play for another minute, but the Canucks killed it off. Big period coming up for the Canucks.

Oilers hang on for a 3-2 win over the Canucks, and take the series 4-3. :cry:

And now, GO STARS!!

Disappointed of course, but a great season for the Canucks regardless. Bigger things to come next season.

  • 2 weeks later...

Stanley Cup final is set. Edmonton Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars 4-2, and will look to win Canada’s first Stanley Cup since 1996, while the Florida Panthers defeated the New York Rangers 4-2 as the Presidents Trophy Curse continues.

Go Panthers! :cheer: (I couldn’t give a flying shit about bringing the cup back to Canada, especially considering they eliminated the Canucks earlier in the playoffs. Plus, I hate the Oilers)

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
    • Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive.  USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
    • They have already beaten Japan, so a win would them in a strong place.
