Looking at the rankings, Gaćina is currently the only one who is in qualification position (even if we exclude athletes that are likely going to qualify at Asian/European qualifications). So, this tournament might be the only chance for others to qualify, and this is a really hard tournament to do so because none of the Europeans is already qualified (except Baku 2015 winners...).

You are right. Gacina is qualified as there is only few weeks left unitl the ranking will be applied. Considering the fact that majority of Asian players will qualify through their local tournament he will be among 20 top players. The others have the chance only here and it will be very hard. I would be very surprised if they manage. I somehow hope for Primorac because it would be his 8th Olympic Games.

We could end up only with one player in Rio.

Tan and Rakovac ended the day with a win. Tan will go against Hungary for the first place in the group tomorrow. Rakovac should be first in her group after defeating Chinese-Portuguese player today.

Negative surprise was Primorac with 0-4 against Serbian guy.

Tian Yuan as expected no chance against Pavlovich (BLR). Tubikanec probably will have her important match tomorrow to reach main round.

Very positive surprise is Rakovec. The portuguese is number 17 here in the ranking.

I watch Tan and he looks quite good so far. Both games were absolutly easy wins.

Well, Primorac pretty much didn't show anything after qualifying for London 2012 via rankings (in early 2011)... It was always unrealistic to expect something from him.

Babić is in quarterfinals of men's heavyweight division. He will go against Poland.

It seems he does not go against Jakoubowski, but the French

at least according to the schedule

Bad news for Zlatko Kumric. After the continental championship in Oceania and Africa there were a lot of changes in the judo rankings. He lost his continental quota due to big step forward for a australian guy. Now european continental quota currently is going to hungary and great britain. Somehow stupid that an australian guy by just winning two matches (against nzl and fiji) earns 400 points

Kumric needs a very good result at th upcoming European Championship, same as Miskovic,

And Matic is now also under danger to loose at least her autmoatic qualification, and then she would block the continental quota for the others two.

There are two more tournaments in May (AZE and KAZ), but crotian judoka are not registered for that two yet. If not our federation is crazy

Australian guy will be out of the automatic qualification zone fairly soon.
