Tournament Format

 

*The 10 teams are divided into two, five-team groups A and B in the Preliminary Round.

 

**After a single round-robin series in each group, the top four teams from each group advance to the Playoff Round while the fifth-placed team in each group moves to the Relegation Round.

 

***The top four placed teams from the Preliminary will play a cross-over Quarterfinal game: 1A vs. 4B, 1B vs. 4A, 2A vs. 3B and 2B vs. 3A. The winner of each Quarterfinal moves onto the Semi-Finals.

 

****The winner of each Semi-Final game will move onto the Gold Medal Game, while the losers will play in the Bronze Medal Game.

 

*****The quarter-final losers will be ranked 5th to 8th according to 1. their position in the group, 2. their preliminary-round record (1. points, 2. goal difference, 3. goals scored).

 

Relegation format

*The two last-placed teams of both Preliminary round groups play a best-of-three Relegation Round series. The third game is only played if needed. The winner of the series plays again at the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship, while loser is relegated to Division I Group A World Championship 2020.

As expected, Russia too strong and too much for our kids, in this category the difference of the levels is even bigger. it never was in doubt who will win this match.

 

From our view, the really positive and most promising thing, is as expected - our wonder kid named -  Maxim Čajkovič !

 

Even today, by miles our best player, he scored 2 of our 3 goals, The only guy able to outskate the Russians, literally flying on the ice.  Hopefully he´ll continue to work hard, awesome talent, it´s always a pleasure to watch this boy, so skilled and fast on skates.  No surprise, Last year he was the CHL Draft Number 1.

 

 

But in the second match CZE lost to Belarus 3-4 !!! Wow !!! What a shock ! This is seriously not good for the ambitions at all

Remember the top 4 of the group will advance for the QF and the 5th team will fall to the relegation round

apart politely forgetting the fact that we are getting a expected good old embarassing debacle, it is noteworthy that we just scored two goals during one American power play !!! (you are not going to see that every day)

certainly this years NHL draft 1 Hughes and his teammate Caufield are just future hockey gods  Cole Caufield 4+1 and Jack Hughes 4+3 today 

 

 

what a lesson for our kids, the poor guys felt today like at a neverending rollercoaster carousel ride today, always skating behind the Americans from left to right
