all news websites in Iran are reporting that one of our "biggest names" in this sport who was supposed to be the gold medal contender in Tokyo is tested positive for doping. as usual they claim he just took some medicines without consulting with the doctors.

we were supposed to have 3 strong gold medal contenders in Tokyo, while they didn't mention a name , I believe I know who is that athlete. but I'm not going to write it here because it's not official.

well well. the whole Karate qualification process was a mixture of bad luck and bad results for Iran and this is the last nail to the coffin. so instead of having 8 athletes in Tokyo. we will end up with just 3. :cry:

That`s really unfortunate. And I am not quite sure what will happen if he/she is really banned from the Olympics.

As it is a "big" name I assume that he/she is qualified as Top4. Who will get a ticket in this case? Place 4 of the qualification tournament?

Will there be a re-run of the continental quota procedure? Tripartite invitation? What a mess...:facepalm:

in case you are not familiar with Round Robin competitions in Karate, that rule "Hantei" doesn't exist here. if they finish 0-0 that will be counted as a draw. but senshu still exists, so it's possible to win a match 1-1.

the first tie breaker is head to head but the next one is the total number of points you score.

but having a round robin competition in Kata is interesting. they have to perform 3 different Katas for these 3 matches. they have to decide when and against who perform their favorite Kata. if that was me I would use my best Kata against the weaker opponent here. because one win is probably enough for you to qualify.

It seems that this is not what Jasmin Jüttner did...best score in all three rounds and loosing against the French in the first final match

Jasmin Jüttner :GER  24.46

Sadeghi Dastak Fatemeh :IRI 24.28

Alexandrea Anacan :NZL 24.20

Dilara Bozan :TUR 24.08

Let`s see what will happen in the semis

because they still have the score of the European Champs 2019, which will be deleted once they add the upcoming edition in a couple of weeks...

meanwhile @MHSN has already calculated the true score without that event from 2019...

ah great. thank you for the explanation. already thought that "our" numbers give a better picture of the actual ranking. ;)

Points for the remaining quotas after the end of K1 League in Portugal . only European Championship is left now

Men's 84kg:

:IRI Zabihollah Poursheib - 10215

:TUR Ugur Aktas - 9952.5 Q

:CRO Ivan Kvesic - 6547.5

Men's +84kg:

:IRI Sajjad Ganjzadeh - 9187.5

:GER Jonathan Horne - 7642.5

:GEO Gogita Arkania - 7620

Arkania and Horne will fight for the 2nd place at the +84kg, whoever finishes higher will qualify for sure.

Ugur Aktas will decide everything here, Kvesic, Poursheib and Ganjzadeh can't do anything except watching Aktas !

======================

Women's 55kg:

:TPE Wen Tzu-Yun - 7110

:GER Jana Messerschmidt - 6247.5

Messerschmidt can qualify only by winning the gold in Europe.

======================

Women's 68kg

:CHN Gong Li - 7402.5

:SUI Elena Quirici - 6525

Quirici has to win the gold to qualify

======================

Women's +68kg

:TUR Meltem Hocaoglu - 6097.5

:GRE Eleni Chatziliadou - 5355

with 742.5 pts gap between them. and knowing the Turks can add 30pts just by participating, Chatziliadou has to win the gold and hoping for Hocaoglu to get eliminated very very early.

Hi. The updated ranking on the wkf site has a bit different numbers.

For example Ugur Aktas is already ahead of Poursheib. Do you have an idea where these differences come from?

    • It's complete American domination in the women's discus rankings so far this year,they occupy the top 4 slots,and the WORST result of those four was achieved at Ramona .Third place currently belongs to Ciera Jackson who had a huge  almost 4 METER pr at the west coast relays on friday-64.42[previous best was 60.77 from march of 2023,and she opened her season a week ago with at that time her second best result ever of 60.14]she also had a 63.66 throw to back this new pb up,and finally with her  new personal best she took down the school record that stood for 36 YEARS[Btw Valerie Allman actually competed in Ramona on march 30th but conditions were apparently far from ideal and she fouled four times and her best was a 63.61,i don't doubt that in the event that she competes in the  world intational,the conditions will be perfect,i wouldn't be so bold as to say she wouldl get the world record but for sure i think she could get a new personal best.
