ExpandIt gets re-allocated to the singles world ranking. Mixed doubles field is capped at 16.
So those, who earned quota in mixed doubles but also have a high ranking in singles and they qualify through the ranking, their SINGLES QUOTA will be reallocated to the next highest ranked player in the singles ranking, right? Do I understand it right? 馃榿馃榿馃榿馃榿 If so, I guess there will be more reallocations? So I guess also the quota of Doo Hoi Kem will be reallocated to another highest ranked in womens singles. So as an example, if qualifies today, Robert Gardos and Sofia Polcanova are also high ranked in singles so their singles quota also would be reallocated to another highest ranked player, right? But how about those who for example have the same player based on team qualification and they all participate in singles and also earned quota in mixed doubles? It will mean another reallocation?

ExpandHere are the 9 nations currently in line for the Olympic quotas via World Rankings (some will qualify by reaching the quarterfinals):
Men

Nigeria will drop off after the first round of the knock-out is completed, the next highest ranked nation is
.
Women

Likewise, Puerto Rico can no longer gain any more points and needs to rely on a few low ranked nations winning their first round match in order to qualify.
The ranking will change anyway after the world champs so there still might be changes. Additionally, I am surprised that into this ranking is also counted Olympic tournament from Tokyo Games. As it's a new Olympic cycle so it might feel like unfair for the countries that are not world top.
ExpandJapan were awarded a walkover but I think it may have been because Nigeria didn't have enough players available to compete. Quadri Aruna had withdrawn from the squad before the competition begun and Bode Abiodun was late arriving.
They are however competing today against
so assume they haven't withdrawn.
Yeah, just saw that ..... They played two games, pretty fast and Aruna is not there. So I suppose tough time for Nigeria .....
men's team withdrew from the Team championships? So it will be walkover for all the nations in Group 5?
Women are losing 1:2 against
after 3 games??
Sun YIngsha and Wang Yidi lost their games ..... Very surprising ....

ExpandMaybe they somehow decided to keep the
quotas for
and then just list them as DNS in the results. sort like pretending all countries "participated" at the games or so..you never know with the IOC
This decision would be super mean towards those athletes who could actually participate without DNS mark. I feel how big disaster is it for but nobody would fight in their country against government decision. They just have to live with it.
must consider the situation and reallocate the quota.....
Expandwe had 86 quotas available for male players
48 for teams + 22 continental events + 1 wild card + 4 World Qualifiers = 75
11 quotas are left for mixed double players + ranking.
Cuba and Canada already used two of those quotas (since they are using players who didn't qualify in singles)
which means maximum 9 will qualify through ranking. but we still don't know 7 of qualified teams in mixed doubles, so it will be minimum 2 and maximum 9 players through the ranking. depends on those 7 remaining mixed doubles teams.
at the moment only
Pitchford and
Aruna are 100% guaranteed a place in Tokyo
Players qualified in mixed doubles have a sure spot in singles, too? Or can you explain more your explanation of minimum 2 and maximum 9 players?
ExpandDyjas had win in his hands in sixth set against Habesohn but wasted it and couldn't win the seventh set. That means that in Tokyo we will see only our girls as Kulczycki lost against Italian earlier too... Total debacle for us in recent weeks in all direct qualifications to Tokyo.... I'm not excepting anything anymore....
I think Dyjas still might have a chance to qualify via Olympic ranking. For me, the same I am hoping for Hana Matelov谩 who is also out too early considering being the top seed. Pavel 艩ir暖膷ek still in, let's see. But I think that Dyjas and 艩ir暖膷ek have both still a decent chance to qualify via ranking.
ExpandPretty disappointing early exit from Bal谩啪ov谩, however she will very likely qualify through Ranking in both singles and mixed, so not a real disaster.
It is a bit worse for Pi拧tej, his only chance to play in Tokyo also in the singles is only by qualifying from OQT, he still have the repechage round here, but I do not see it very realistic, I do fear he will be in Tokyo only for the mixed doubles with Barbora, both are still first non-qualified pair, so baring total completely unforeseen circumstances they should be already in (waiting for ITTU confirmation ofc)
I am also dissapointed by performaces of Matelov谩 and 艩ir暖膷ek despite they are quite high in the rankings and they may qualify based on the rankings, both top 2 seeds are out quite fast..... Let's see the third stage or the ranking later.....
Posted
So if there is one player who will compete in team, singles and also mixed doubles, it's considered as 1 quota, right?
