meanwhile, in the women's Skeet, the preliminary stage is coming to a conclusion

so far, :GRE Emmanouela Katzouraki, :SVK Danka Bartekova, :USA Dania Jo Vizzi are sure to make the Final

:USA Austen Jewell Smith and :SVK Vanesa Hockova still have to shoot their last series and with a clean sheet, they would also make the Final

with 24/25 they would enter a big shoot-off, which :CHI Francisca Chadid Crovetto, :ITA Martina Bartolomei, :TUR Sena Can and :USA Samantha Simonton are already qualified to

Expand

Yeah. Nice to see that :SVK has the second spot @hcko拧ice :-)

Spots this time go to :SVK :GRE :CHI and :TUR

Guys, how about the mixed pair competitions. I know that NOCs that qualify at least one man and one woman for the individual competition get the right to sign up a team for the mixed team competition. But what about events? Are there any events from which NOCs can specifically qualify athletes for only the mixed team competition? I was searching for this and it really seems only NOCs that qualified athletes for individual competitions and plus it at the end of the qualification period, there might come an invitation for an athlete from a country that does not have a quota in a certain event in order to compete possibly in the individual and also mixed team competition, right?

Now, I really hope :CZE Tomas Nydrle will earn the quota. World Champion, one time world cup winner, European Games silver medalist and has never been to the Olympic Games. Finished 1st below the line not only once. Btw, in skeet, it was :CZE Radek Prokop for Paris. ..... Tomas deserves qualify for the Olympics so much. But if he does not win the quota, I guess Jakub Tome膷ek will be sent as he earned the quota and wants to make it to the Olympic final as he finished 7th in Tokyo. Good luck buys. Tomas is on the good path, shooting down all 50 but so as other 9 shooters....

Anyways, very interesting how skeet competition is devided into 3 days. Never seen this....

In the past you are correct, but for 2024 they introduced a rule where all qualifiers needed to have participated in the final, likely to increase the importance of world rankings. That has since been (thankfully) reversed

Expand

Yeah, well, some people may disagree. Sometimes, especially in shooting may happen quite often when somebody ranks high in world cup or grand prix events, is ranked high in the world ranking but unfortunately does not reach quota during the qualifying events. But I agree with you that this rule is more interesting. But somehow makes me wonder. What if the quota would really be allocated to someone who is out of final but there were several shooters with the same qualification result. Would there be an "Olympic quota shoot-off"?

It looks like the qualification has been changed for shooting. Originally, athletes must have reached the finals in order to gain the quota, but now it looks like athletes can qualify based on the qualification round in the event that fewer than four eligible athletes reach the finals which is what it was at previous Olympics.

Expand

Wasn't it like before as well? If there are 8 ppl in the final but 5 have already warned the quota, the other 3 will take it plus the next highest ranked in the qualification round. Or was it different in the past? Was it in the way the three spots would be given And the fourth one would be reallocated to a different event or maybe later for someone who would recieve an invitation based on world ranking?

It鈥檚 correct.

1. 3rd in ranking match would only ranked 5th or 6th. 4th would only be ranked 7th or 8th.

2. To compare the 3rd or 4th in different group, firstly to compare points, if the same then compare qualification ranking.

3. If the 3rd and the 4th in same group share the same points, compare qualification ranking. if the 2nd and 3rd in the same group share the same points, there will be a off-shot.

So according to the complicated rules, even :CHN shot 12 points, he would also get the quota ahead of :CZE with 13 points. But fortunately he didn鈥檛 make that happen.

Thanks Vic. Just wanted to make it clear. As the system always changed after every Olympics 馃ぃ馃ぃ. Anyways, China dif not dissappoint at all. On the contraty, earning so many medals and quotas in all disciplines. Really cool. Not, let'd leave some spots for other nations 馃槄馃槄. Btw there already some pretty young (teenage) athletes who can already shoot the world level 馃挭馃挭

Just want to make something clear about the counting, especially on what position the shooter places in the final.

About those who are in the medal match, there is no doubt, but I am sometimes a bit confused about those who make it to the final but not to the medal match. Will make an example of the Rapid Fire Pistol.

5th :GER Christian Reitz (14pts) - 5th place because he finished 3rd in his Ranking match and has highest points of those non-qualified

6th :CHN Lu Zhiming (13pts) - Because he finished 3rd in his ranking match and has lower points than Reitz

7th :CZE Mat臎j Rampula (13pts) - Because he finished 4th in his ranking match and cannot be placed above Lu (same amount of points) because of the 4th place in the ranking match

8th :GER Florian Peter (12pts)  - Because he places 4th in his ranking match and has the lowest point of all.

This is my understanding. Please, can anybody confirm it or possibly correct it? Thank you!

A nation can't get their second quota from this particular WCH? Why didn't China get their second one in Men's 10m Air Rifle?

ISSF has rules that every country can qualify only one athlete from one competition. So no matter that there 2 :CHN in the final. Even if they won gold and silver, it still would be 1 spot for :CHN

the olympic channel is OK for the live broadcasts, the problem is that replays are only available on PCs and not on connected devices apps (like android tv system, amazon firesticks or apple tv boxes), which are a lot more comfortable to be usewd on big TV screens...

The gold medal match of the men was extraordinary!!!! The fight between :ITA and :IND was really great. Congrats to all who got medals and earned Olympic quotas. Of course, I am happy for :CZE quota which is already 5th quota for our country and it's still only 2022. Really happy about that!!!

:CZE Prokop lost Olympic quote and ticket to medal match on the last second! :(

Expand

Yeah, that was incredibly sad. Elliott could have put him back but he screwed up :-( ..... If Elliott was in the final, it would be mean that the 4th quota place would to the 5th one from the final, who would be Prokop because Delaney placed in front of him in quali was rulled out in the first step. Like this, Prokop is is 6th and also 1st who does not earn the quota. Also unlucky because he lost the quota do :SWE Nillson. The same shooter who took the Olympic spot from :CZE N媒drle before the games in Tokyo..... Hopefully Czech will get the second quota later .....

Anyways, congrats to all qualified for the Olympics

Patrik J谩ny thanks yesterday bronze in the 50m Rifle 3 positions race in World Cup in Croatia, officially confirmed his qualification also in this event, he was expected to compete there by having the required mqs 2 years ago, but now it is definitely confirmed.

So 2 events for him at his debut Olympics, his main discipline the 10m Air Rifle, and is more than happy to hear that he will stay in the olympic village the whole week to compete also in the 3 positions

    • Would rather best ball be on day 1 and alternate shots be on day 2, but overall I think this is a good format.
    • 1980. Allan Wells. It wasn鈥檛 on television because of the Olympic boycott so I found out about it from the newspapers.
    • Also GB didn鈥檛 reach its target in the 4x100 women relay or the medley so those places might be rejected.
    • It was the last event of the meet anyway, so they were never likely to do a swim off. If they wanted to decide in advance based on a race, more likely on a meet like Mare Nostrum.   Both are pre-selected anyway because of the relay, so they both will be there anyway. Whichever gets the nod, we probably won't know until the week of.   With GB's history of messing about, especially in the first year of a new Olympic cycle, who knows what we'll do. Knowing us, stick Tom Dean in there, make Duncan do the 200 fly and Jimmy the 400 free.
    • Will they do a swim-off?   The other option is they select both of them and then the head coach decides who swims at the meet.
    • Very glad they went with foursome/four-ball rather than just adding up individual scores.
    • I'll give it a shot.   On the mens side the freestyle results were pretty standard with the usual suspects of Ben Proud, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott swimming well. I don't think any of these guys were fully tapered and Proud didn't even shave for his 50m free win (21.67). 17 year old Jacob Mills came second in both the 50 and 100m free, so is on the team for Singapore. Tom Dean has only just got back into training but qualified in the 4x100 after being preselected in the 4x200 free.  James Guy looked impressive with a PB in the 200m free at 1:45.08. He also won the 400m free in a race where he went out way too fast and died at the end (3:46.64). The longer distances weren't notable.   Ollie Morgan was certainly stand out swimmer on the mens side sweeping the backstrokes for a 3rd straight year. He broke the national record in the 100m with a 52.12 with a pretty poor finish. He also impressed in the 200m with a 1:55.55   Without Peaty, the mens breaststroke was pretty poor, with Greg Butler only qualifying for the relay. 17 year olds Max Morgan and Filip Nowacki took home a few medals between them.   The Men's fly was also pretty pedestrian by international standards. Proud won the 50m in 23.21 with a long glide, whilst Ed Mildred took the relay spot in 51.80. 17 y.o Jack Brown was only 0.07 back Duncan Scott won the 200m (1:54.89) but he wont swim it in Singapore.   Scott took the mens 200m IM in 1:56.44, whilst, Max Litchfield won the 400m in 4:11.59     On the women's side the quality wasn't as good but there were a few standout performances.   Freya Colbert got close to the British record in the 200m free in 1:55.76, and Eva Okaro impressed with a 24.48 50m free.    The backstrokes were disappointing with nobody breaking a minute in the 100 (1:00.03), but Katie Shanahan looked good in the 200 at (2:07.91)   Angharad Evans was rapid in the breaststrokes breaking the national record in the 100 (1:05.37), and a huge PB in the 200 (2:21.86)   Fly was poor with nobody breaking 58 in the 100 (58.03), but Macinnes broke the Scottish record in the 200 (2:07.14)   Abbie Wood swept the Medleys with a 2:08.85 200 and a 4:36.66 400     Overall the results were alright with a few strong standout performances. As is the case in a post olympic year, the big guns took it fairly easy whilst some juniors looked really promising.    More results here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Aquatics_GB_Swimming_Championships
