First gold since Sydney 2000 for
I go for some surprises:
-
Pool A:
-
Pool B:
destroyed
(2016 Olympic Champions) with 8-0 in the semi finals, which means that they have scored 22 goals in a row now without conceiving one. Not bad after the sub-par start of the tournament.
The Netherlands won the Hockey World League by winning all 6 matches with a goal difference of +18, without any of their opponents scoring a single goal against them.
Group phase:
4 - 0
2 - 0
3 - 0
Final rounds:
4 - 0
(QF)
2 - 0
(SF)
3 - 0
(F)
With winning the bronze medal by defeating the Olympic champions from
(well
won the gold in Rio, but all players were from
), all three medalists of this Hockey World League were in the same group.
What a tense match. The Dutch girl grew during the match, but the Germans were really dangerous at times. The German players were excited when they realized that the match was going to be decided by shoot outs.
Fortunately, the Dutch won their semi final again, just like they defeated New Zealand in the semis 4 years ago after shoot outs.
Congrats to Belgium, who were better this match.
What a match by Argentina against Germany!
Congratulations Argentina! Let's hope for another NED - ARG, this time in the men's tournament!
Make that 4-0 with 11 minutes to play!
The top favorites in the mens tournament, , are close to being eliminated. With 14 minutes left to play,
leads by 3-0.
Finishing 2nd in the pool, but we still have to play against the big favorite for gold in the QF.
