Olympic Tennis Centre Sports: Tennis Zone: BARRA Location: Barra Olympic Park The Rio de Janeiro 2016 Games Tennis venue, The Olympic Tennis Centre is located in Barra Olympic Park, The heart of Rio 2016 Games. The centre court has been named after Maria Esther Bueno, Brazil’s greatest ever player, who won 19 grand slam titles (seven singles and 12 doubles) in the late 1950s and 1960s. Bueno, according to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) the most graceful and artistic player of her generation With 16 courts – 10 for competition and six for training, including a permanent 10,000-seat centre court and two other show courts with 5,000 and 3,000 temporary seats – the tennis centre is one of seven new venues being constructed along two existing ones in the main Olympic Park. After the Games it will be part of the Olympic Training Centre, providing top-level facilities for elite athletes and youngsters from social projects, while allowing Brazil to host more major tournaments.

yes I dont think we will win any medal at WOG 2018, maybe in womens slalom but we´ll need a perfect day..., but about biathlon probably you are right, medal will be too high this time. in fact I am happy she is back, because we just will need Kuzmina this time mainly for colecting points and qualifying the full team for Pyeongchang. and we will see what will happen, don´t forget that she perform usually quite good at WOG so who know... Paulína has a amazing season, her careers season. most likely she will never repeat in the future such results as she achieved this year. our biathlon and winter sport (except Ice hockey ofc) is almost dead, theres no money, no infrastructure, no youngs who want do those sports, very few talents, the situation is disastrous. so if we count all results achieved by our few athletes so far in those conditions, yes it´s already a miracle. well, the european championships...this competition is a joke, c´mon we won silver medal in mixed relay. a real sci-fi now you see how bad we are at WCH against real teams. no, I´ll tell you why we had those amazing results at european championships, why all our athletes had ECh from the start of the season this event as their this seasons top priority. our biathlon chiefs were really smart this time, to focus mainly for this event and peaked the shape of athletes for Tyumen to trying to win medals in this event against very poor concurence, but thanks the fact that the competition is called European Championship and we won 2 medals, Paulína and the full 4 members of the mixed relay will receive money from the state and they will be finally able to have a serious and "normal" preparation for the new winter season which will be a Olympic qualifying season.

Challenge Cup of Asia begins on Saturday Three tournaments of the IIHF Ice Hockey Challenge Cup of Asia will be played in the upcoming weeks. The 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey Challenge Cup of Asia in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, will make the start and will be played from 12 to 18 March. The Challenge Cup of Asia was created eight years ago to give Asian countries that are not in the World Championship program, or that play in the lowest division, a chance to compete amongst each other and help develop ice hockey in more Asian countries. One year ago Chinese Taipei won the tournament on home ice thanks to a tight 5-4 victory against the United Arab Emirates. This year the Emirati are looking for revenge on home ice against the defending champion. The other teams in the round-robin tournament are Mongolia, Thailand and Singapore. Thanks to the growing number of participants, the Challenge Cup of Asia will again be played with two tiers with the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey Challenge Cup of Asia Division I taking place in Bishkek from 9 to 14 April. Macau, host country Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, India and for the first time Qatar will play for promotion in the five-team tournament. Also the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s Challenge Cup of Asia Division I will be played for the third time with the aim at giving women’s national teams from countries not already competing in the Women’s World Championship program a chance to play. The event will take place in Taipei City from 21 to 26 March with host Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and India. btw Kuzmina finished today 10th in her first race after 2 years pause. not bad at all, (16th running time and 2nd shooting time 0:50!). pity that last target, but well... finally she is back to save our dying winter sport, let´s go save him with completing the golden hattrick in Pyeongchang

Future Arena Sports: Handball Zone: BARRA Location: Barra Olympic Park Future Arena is located in Barra Olympic Park, The arena with capacity 12.000 is one of the nine olympic venues in the Barra Olympic Park complex, only few minutes from the Olympic and Paralympic Village. During the OG it will be the venue of all Handball Matches. Thanks to the use of innovative design ‘nomadic architecture’ the venue will leave a valuable social legacy. After the Games, it will be taken down and its parts will be used in the construction of four public schools each large enough for 500 childrens.
