  2. Our friends here found a detailed events schedule today. https://press.paris2024.org/assets/paris-2024-olympic-sport-events-schedule-pdf-2db8-7578a.html?dl=1 So maybe it's time for a new thread here. Sth similar to this one: https://totallympics.com/topic/2360-tokyo-2020-day-after-day-as-it-could-have-happened/#comment-284565 I know it's way too early, but why not??? But don't take it too seriously, please remember - it's a joke!
  3. HA! I found an old photo of this Jo Fenn stuff Yes, she was a musician as well, she has even sent a CD with her songs then! And she was a fashion model also, had a nice MySpace webpage (remember MySpace, anyone? :-))) Not only a runner, she was involved in many different activities, her interviews were interesting. All of this together might have been a reason why my sister liked her the most, although there were certainly a few faster runners those days.
  4. As I said before, I have never watched the Commonwealth Games much. But I have a Commonwealth Games story in my family history... My sister was a good 800m runner at junior level here in Poland. She was 6th at Junior Nationals one year. And her favourite 800m runner was an English athlete - Joanne Fenn. A really good runner, a very nice person, she took part in Athens 2004 olympics, performed well but didn't make it to a final and then was a bit overshadowed by Kelly Holmes magnicifient triumph. Back in 2006 my sis had a difficult year, serious exams at the end of the highschool etc. She was quite stressed about it and to cheer her up I wrote an e-mail to an English athletics club, Joanne Fenn trained there, and I said sth like: my sis liked her so much, she's a kind of role model for her, so if she could send a photo with a few words of sympathy that would be awesome... and I asked her: make it a surprise for her. And few days later a surprise package came from UK, and inside there was not only a photo with greetings, but a full running outfit prepared for Fenn as a member of 2006 England Team for Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne that year. We were just stunned. And then... it turned out that Fenn made it to a team and then - at the very last moment - she had to withdraw because she had really serious health issues, she had even got a major operation on a grapefruit-sized cyst... So I guess it was a win-win situation. My sister was sooo happy about it and I think Jo Fenn smiled a bit when at her awfullest times she got news that she means so much for young runners somwehere abroad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joanne_Fenn There is not so much news on the internet about what's Joanne Fenn is doing these days but I hope she's healthy and she's having a good life. I think we still have these clothes somewhere...
  5. Yes, it is like basketball tournament in Tokyo, sb wrote about it here few months ago. Another stupid change in olympic "core event" format. Ehhh...
  6. No. There is a PDF file with all the details. You need to download the file and scroll it down. The new details are from page 4 I guess
  7. There are these athletics repechages in the programme indeed. Ehhh…
  8. Don’t be too harsh on yourself. We will see so many urban olympic changes in the future, we will be thinking some of them are jokes but they will not be. Just wait for it…
  9. Thank you very very much!!! I will be busy until midnight hours analyzing this!!! 😉
  10. It's even tagged as "April 1" so we can stay calm here, I think. Uff...
  11. Oh, I really don't like this "repechage" idea. Why don't they try such important changes in some Tier II competition first? Like European Champs or sth???
  12. And then official results from the second semi turned out to be app. -0.1 sec faster than the first unnoficial ones, so our commentators kept saying that there might have been sth wrong with the timing as well. Hope they are wrong here. Those were too excellent runs by her, both in the semi and in the final.
  13. I haven't watched it live but it looks like Polish TV was so focused on some boring people talking in the studio that they missed Tobi Amusan WR in the live broadcast last night... ehh...
  14. Strange facts: Even though Team Poland performance in Eugene was "nothing special", pretty average tbh, we are still the top European team in the medal table. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_World_Athletics_Championships#Medal_table The stats don't show the real strength here. There's no way Poland will be the top team at the European champs later this summer.
  15. Just checked the sports list for Commonwealth Games. And it looks like I need some YT tutorial "cricket for beginners".
  16. I'll try Commonwealth Games this year. Never watched it carefully before but I have a feeling I will like it. Swimming events with some people who didn't show up at the worlds are the most interesting for me here. I hope there will be some internet broadcast available here in Poland.
  17. Swimming WCH has ended. Wimbledon has ended. Athletics WCH has ended. Tour de France has ended. What to watch now? Any recommendations? I can see only F1 race in Hungaroring this week.
