    Must be the second proposition.

In the case of the French team, most of the players are French-born. Only Mandanda and Umtiti were born abroad.

Not even...  to reach 78% (18/23), you have to count the likes of Griezmann and Hernadez and also Lémar and Varane (whose famillies were allready french citizns living in a french territory at a time when most of the countries in this world cup didn't even exist, but still count as "migrants", presumably becaure they are not white...)

Funny how teams made up of virtualy 100% foreigner-born players like Tnisia or Morocco somehow don't count either...

    Nevermind, really.

  2. That statement... ffs... there is nothing in it. He's cleared... because... well, he's cleared. So now please fuck off and enjoy our races.

It's about cycling, it's about UCI, it's about a freakin kenyan boy that used to be tracted by car just to make the finish line who has became one of the greatest GT riders of all time. You need to make it crystal clear why he's cleaned. Do they think, this statement is even remotly enough ? Really ?

And luckily we have the addition of 'Men's Road Cycling' in the thread name :d

It's not complete enough anyway. Is it just an UCI race ? What about ASO and other sponsors ? We agree it's a men's race, fine. But are they binary ? Cisgender ? And the date ? 2018 , ok . But is it BC or AD ? Very confusing.

There should have been a decision long ago on the Froome case. ASO are in their right and i'm also welcoming the decision (if it stands). With or without him, this looks on paper to be one of the most exciting Tours in many years.

If Froome is out, this could indeed turn to be an epic Tour. Leaders of relative equal strenght and no team do demolish the field

    In the meantime...

Apparently ASO has banned Froome to take part of the TDF... If you don't care about soccer, this will become your favorite TV show for the days to come.

Sky has allready appealed it, and the case will be reviewed by french NOC tuesday (the decision should be announced the day after). There shouldn't be enough time for the CAS to review it by the start of the Tour.

Sky : " We are confident that Chris will take part as we know he has done nothing wrong" . Yeah, right.

it's almost unbelievable that a little town like LODI is so good to earn two Italian titles in a row !

Don't want to waste your party, but not really, a minor sport (and rink hockey is defintly minor in Italy) will tend to shine in minor towns. That goes for any sport, probably everywhere .

50K is a rather good standard for an european top rink hockey club .

6:0 6:0 in tennis is "rowerek" in Polish, which is a diminutive for a "bicycle".

Also used in french (not very common).

Much more common, is the use of the word "fanny" when a team or someone is scoreless in a game or a tournament. The origins of the expression are rather nebulous, but it has been popularised through the world of pétanque of the early XXth century when the losing team had "to kiss fanny ass" :d as some kind of a punishment.

Nowadays, It's used in sports as in everyday life.

I was reading the list of topics and the national thread of Slovakia had the sentence "Cesta do Tokia" added to it. Then I remembered that in Portuguese we usually say "cesta" (literally: basket) when someone scores (one, two or three points, it doesn't matter) in basketball. This made me curious about other languages, since there might be different or unique terms related to sports and we have people from all over the world here, so I would like us to share what we might know.

As a side note, it's amusing that in Portuguese the name of the country Peru refers to both turkey (the animal, not the country) and a penis. Their slogan, "arriba Perú", is sometimes understood by Portuguese speakers as "rise up, cock".

Same in french: 'panier' (litteral translation of basket) is used when someone scores. The term 'basket' is commonly used to name the sport when basketball connoisseurs tend to prefer to use the full term of 'basketball' (in a kind of 'I'm better than you' way :d)

Both clubs payed 900 000 Euro to play in our league (In fact every opponent will receive some 90 000 EUR), The deal is official for 1 (next) season, but with option to eventually prolong it for at least 3 next seasons.

Both combined or each ? In any case (and no offense to the slovak league) that seems quite expensive...

What do you think about the swedish chances? Should be good since we have never had a winter olympics and are one of the top winter nations, and we have many successfull organized wintersport championships in the past.

I'd say that if any (western) european city makes it to the final candidate stage, they will have it in the bag. The thing is, I don't believe anymore that a western european bid will survive so far (Sion was my best hope).
