Totallympics Open International Song Contest 2021
Cobi replied to Dnl's topic in Totallympics International Song Contest
My reserves were Kazakhstan, Colombia and Lithuania. Sorry @konig The week I listened to the songs I was a bit stressed and that kind of music didn't catch my attention so much, but the song was good and I would have probably given it some points if I had to vote again today. -

I just realized that Spain finished just one position better than Croatia in both Open 2020 and Annual 2021 (25th and 24th) At least this edition is going a little bit better for me. -

I did my first listening a couple of days ago and 17 songs made my first cut. I'm a bit busy these days but I hope I can have time this weekend to listen to the songs at least 2 more times before sending the votes. -
Winter Olympic Games 2030 Bid Process
Cobi replied to George_D's topic in Winter Olympic Games French Alps 2030
Yeah. Nobody cares about winter sports in Spain and the Winter Olympics would be a waste of money. The Summer Olympics would have much more popular support if they don't spend too much money building new venues. -
Winter Olympic Games 2030 Bid Process
Cobi replied to George_D's topic in Winter Olympic Games French Alps 2030
2030 in Spain is impossible. There are too many parties involved in the event with very antagonic views. We have the central government (PSOE, social democrats and the ones who re-started the project), two regional governments (Aragon is led by PSOE, but they feel discriminated for not including the region or the city of Zaragoza in the official naming, and Catalonia, led by ERC, who are also very interested because they will use it as a political tool) and two local governments (Barcelona is led by En Comú Podem/Podemos, non-secessionist left/green party, which doesn't want to host the Games, and the Pirineus towns led by Junts, right secessionist party, who like the idea but they don't want to do it with the central government). And then there is Madrid (PP, right) who already started to prepare the candidature for the 2036 Olympics but they can't make it official until the 2030 candidature fails. Alejandro Blanco is just playing games with the press. -

It's always nice to win, but it was just a friendly game. Besides, the match would have been more entertained if Bonucci wasn't kicked out so early. -
Summer Olympic Games 2032 Bid Process
Cobi replied to intoronto's topic in Summer Olympic Games Brisbane 2032
It's true that our NOC president said that the candidature would have some venues outside of Madrid to save some money and he specifically mentioned Barcelona (swimming), La Seu (canoeing slalom), Sevilla (rowing and sprint canoeing) and Palma/Valencia (track cycling). Right now none of these sports has a proper venue in Madrid, but in the case of swimming last year the city approved extra funding to continue building a big swimming complex close to the Wanda Metropolitano, so they will probably won't need to have it in Barcelona. -

SPANISH ENTRY La Oreja de Van Gogh - 20 de Enero Lyrics (Spanish): Lyrics (English): La Oreja de Van Gogh is the most succesful Spanish pop-rock band. They started playing together in 1996 and they are still active today, although the female singer was replaced in 2007 (Leire Martínez replaced Amaia Montero, who decided to leave the band). The song that I have chosen to represent Spain this year was the second single of their second album, "Lo que te conté mientras te hacías la dormida", released in 2003. It isn't the most popular song of LODVG at all, but at that time it was a big success for being one of the first Spanish songs with an animated videoclip. It's also a very different style compared to the greatest hits of the band (Jueves, Rosas or La Playa), so I recommend you to check out these songs if you are interested in knowing the musical taste of Spain in the early 2000s. I hope you enjoy it! -

Yes, that number is only considering 4 TV channels: La 1 and TDP (public TV) as well as Eurosport 1 and 2. They didn't include the streaming platforms of both companies, which probably will increase the ratings a little bit more. For example, in TV the most watched event has been the football final, but in RTVE Play (public streaming platform) the climbing final has broken all the records. -
Tokyo Summer Olympic Games 2020 News
Cobi replied to uk12points's topic in Summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
Only 66.3% of the Spanish population (30M) watched the Olympics. It is the smallest share since we started collecting TV data in Barcelona 92. The record goes back to Sidney 2000 with 93.3% of the population watching at least one event. -

This reminded me that in taekwondo there is a girl from Taipei called Su-Po-Ya which means "His Dick" in Spanish.
