  1. Today's Results (Part I) Pelicans Lahti (4) - Ilves Tampere (2) 3-1 (Pelicans Lahti win series 4-2) Mountfield HK (4) - HC Vìtkovice Ridera (2)...currently playing the 1st OT (1-1 the score) HKM Zvolen (3) - HK Grotto Spišská Nová Ves (5) 3-2 (HKM Zvolen win series 4-3)
  2. the distribution of the future Olympic medals between the USA and GBR has started. I do really hope that the IOC will get rid of this farce that's become OLympic boxing.
  3. as far as I know, the only foreign swimmers are Damien Joly and Leonie Beck. I think only the swimmers registered for Italian clubs can enter our Nationals (and in any case, they can't win the title, of course).
  4. entries and live results are here: https://fin2023.microplustiming.com/NU_2023_04_13-17_Riccione_web.php quick Glossary: uomini = men donne = women Stile Libero = Freestyle Dorso = Backstroke Farfalla = Butterfly Rana = Breaststroke Misti = Medley Staffetta = Relay Live Broadcast of both Heats and Finals sessions is here (I don't know if you need a VPN outside Italy): https://www.raiplay.it/dirette/raisport
  5. I don't think she had any other option. switching Nationality right now would have meant a long pause...and basically no chance to compete in Paris without the French authorization.
  6. still, you have to be a decent actor to play that choreography in a reasonably good manner. more likely, they couldn't afford to pay Steveson as much as he wanted and started with the "not ready yet" excuse and moved him to the not so profitable 2nd tier league.
  7. it's not only the fights, it's a show at 360 degrees, it's more about the characters and the plots between the "stables". it's the eternal "good heroes vs the bad boys" representation. most people in the western world love this kind of things...it's like being on the set of a JC Van Damme movie all the time.
  8. Today's Schedule Pelicans Lahti (4) vs Ilves Tampere (2), game #6 (5.30 p.m. CET) Mountfield HK (4) vs HC Vìtkovice Ridera (2), game #6 (5 p.m. CET) HKM Zvolen (3) vs HK Grotto Spišská Nová Ves (5), game #7 (6 p.m. CET)
  9. Yesterday's Results (Part II) EHC Red Bull Munich (1) - Grizzlys Wolfsburg (5) 7-2 (Red Bull Munich win series 4-3) Magnus League Finals Brûleurs De Loupes Grenoble (1) - Dragons Rouen (2) 1-2 (Rouen lead series 3-2)
  10. I think it has a lot to do with the recent WWE vs UFC affair, with the latter buying a more and more struggling WWE. some cut to the rosters and the payrolls in the US fake wrestling industry might have pushed him to reconsider the Olympic glory (and some new contracts a second Olympic gold medal would bring him).
  11. Today were so awful that even a below strenght was way better than us (p.s. still, Gadirova is shamefully overestimated every time she gets on the stage). by the way, also were not in full strenght...add the sub-par performance and you have this ranking (where we've been lucky to win a medal, at least).
  12. Tomorrow the Italian Spring Nationals start in the usual location of Riccione. it's the first (and main) chance for our swimmers to stamp the clockings that would qualify them to the World Champs (the Sette Colli meet in Rome in June is the second and last chance). the hype is quite high, even if our stars are basically pre-qualified and most likely won't be in top shape. some of them are also facing the consequence of some illness (in particular, Galossi -who had mononucleosis and he's not expected to have any significant result this week, being well behind his own training schedule- and Ceccon). I'm very curious to see if some new names will have a breakout, especially on the women's side (where Pilato will only compete in the 50m breaststroke and most likely will be out of the 100m race also in Fukuoka, despite being the reigning world champion).
  13. tbh, very disappointing performance by our girls (they scored almost 166 points last week in the Jesolo Trophy vs the Americans -tbh, a 3rd tier team from the USA). as usual, the balance beam was a disaster with falls, mistakes and low D scores to start. even at the floor, which is supposed to be one of our strong apparatus, we had a lot of troubles (we couldn't even use the 4th girl) and mistakes. well deserved loss, in the end. hopefully our media will stop overexposing these girls. they are good, but not that good as they are depicted. or maybe not...our media usually never learn from their capital mistakes.
  14. Today's Results (Part I) HC Oceláři Třinec (6) - HC Dynamo Pardubice (1) 3-5 (series tied 3-3) HC Košice (1) - HK Dukla Ingema Michalovce (8) 3-1 (HC Košice win series 4-3) Red Bull Munich are currently leading 5-1 after ca. 35 mins game #7 of the semifinal series vs Wolfsburg Grizzlys
  15. absent people are always wrong p.s. undisputed = men + women champions, with no other Nation sharing the honor (for this year only, of course...I know there are better men's teams on paper, but they didn't perform/show up in this case).

  21. first ever men's European title for and Tomorrow the girls will compete to confirm themselves on the Continental throne. should this happen (and it's not impossible at all), would be the unbelivable, undisputed owner of European gymnastics (in absence of Russia).
  22. I saw a lot of comments about that in the past couple of days!
  23. tbh, I don't like it at all... it would make things extremely boring. the beauty of an athletics meet is the variety of events going on in those 2 hours. and track running, especially the middle and long distances, normally get too much coverage and attention than they deserve (get rid of pace makers and don't allow too many athletes from the same commercial club/manager in the same race to make it more interesting). meanwhile it's the exact opposite for the field events.
  24. Yesterday's Results (Part II) Frölunda HC (6) - Växjö Lakers HC (1) 1-2 OT (Växjö Lakers win series 4-2)
  25. Zlín is the new champion of the Chance League Zlín won the heart-breaking sixth final battle of the final series of the Chance League over Vsetín 3:2 in overtime.
