  1. In Lviv, as far as I know she shared the same coach with our London-2012 Olympic champion Yana Shemyakina
  2. 17 y.o Anna Maksymenko won a gold medal in this week Grand Prix. It's her first individual medal and second general at the senior WC/GP level, and I believe she may be one of the youngest winners in history
  3. Fantastic Euro from Doroshchuk, gold at 2.34 with all clear rounds
  4. Idk if that's actually true, but in volleyball there are a sort of established system of qualification to LA, where Top-3 from WCh, continental champions and top-3 from World Rankings will participate at the next Olympics
  5. Hell no, our home track is Sigulda, and our only track is wooden and located in the small city of Kremenets. And despite that we had 2x 4th place from our skeletonist Vladyslav Heraskevych and bronze in luge team relay
  6. In relay yes, but we have 8 more from our legend Natalya Yakushenko back in 2008 and earlier
  7. Shemyakina won a bronze medal in 2014 Worlds and was one of our leader but leave the squad due to pregnancy (she has 2 daughters if I'm not mistaking, so she chose family instead of sport). And speaking of foil we have back in the day Sergiy Golubitskyi, who was Olympic silver medalist and won some medals in other competitions and coached his wife Caroline Golubitskyi - one of the German foil specialists. Even in women's foil we had medal in Women's foil at the European championship - it was Olha Leleiko, our current national coach. So no, we are pretty good fencing country, and depending on generations of our athletes some events are more "profitable" for us and some don't.
  8. No, our epee was good always, we have Shemyakina, who was Olympic Champion in 2012, Reizlin with bronze in 2020, medalists of Worlds like Kryvytska (who is our finisher today), Svichkar (who is our finisher in men's side) and Stankevych, European champion Kharkova, medals in other conpetitions from men's team epee who were one of the main contenders in Tokyo, but unfortunately failed to take a medal.
  9. Ukraine twice in one day defeated Italy and France, like what the heck?
  10. Myroniuk trained in the USA (that's why she is European vice champion), others I assume trained in Ukraine
  11. Ukraine defeated Hungary, Italy and France and first time in the history of our fencing is in FINAL
  12. Anastasiia Harnyk won all of her bouts in less than a minute and take gold for Ukraine in judo
  13. Tsvietov destroyed all ruzzian favorites in men's 100 m T35 and finally returned gold to Ukraine
  14. Oksana Zubkovska just won her 5th consecutive gold in women's long jump at the age of 41. She's just fenomenal woman, who tried to convince doctors that she is healthy at her junior age.
  15. Ukraine won first ever medal in women's lead - and it's a silver for Kazbekova, who finally won a medal from EuCh
  16. Big upset allert - Didukh and Shynkarova won world champions Brazailians Alexandre/Salmin and secured a medal
  17. I don't want to start writing at this topics, but unfortunately Iryna Glibko, who was our captain and leader in women's handball team, died at age 34 due to oncology. I always joked that if we could clone Glibko 5 or 6 times, we will be at the top-level competitions, she was so strong and so sunny..... I missed her so much, hope she's in the better place now 😭
  18. Underestimated by what? He won the majority of his medals in weak competition, and it's not that impressive if we are talking not only about quantity but also quality. If women's canoe, which was much more hated than men's, had 500 meters race starting in 2010, the icon of women's canoe Laurence Vincente-Lapointe would easily beat grandfather Shtyl (Laurence at first only had 1 discipline, where she won 4 consecutive and 6 combined golds, than she added 4 golds in doubles and 1 in marathon, while Shtyl had more than five different disciplines). Again, if we're dividing the aggregate amount of gold by the number of events, where it was achieved, Shtyl wouldn't be number 1.
  19. Okay, what do Olympic events do to Shtyl, who won more than half of his gold in non-Olympic events?
  20. It's the same amount actually because in canoe there are also 200 meters sprints or fours
  21. Dame Lisa Marie Carrington for sure mopped the floor with Shtyl, having 23 combined golds from Olympics + WChs (8+15), while Shtyl has only one medal from the Olympics and it's not gold.
  22. I'm not speaking for Ukraine, we lost our medal by ourselves, it's not a big problem for me in case of judging. The bigger problem is the artistry score and the absence of detailed protocols describing all elements. We already have that in figure skating, so why we can't have it in RG? The answer is simple - because Russia didn't want to do that, it will kill their chances.
  23. Two mediocre performances but affiliation with Russia is definitely a key to success in this sport. They have no artistry, received small amounts of penalties, showing hideous programs and this concludes to gold, because they were training in Russia for 4 or 5 years long.
  24. Rigged gold for China and their pro-putin coach Blyzniuk and these girls who trained in Russia a lot. Awful Olympics for rhythmic gymnastics, at first you have Russian Varfolomeev, who thinks that 5 major Ukrainian cities and regions are Russia, and then you have Chinese girls.
  25. What is unfair in pentathlon except horses, who will be out?
