  9. If anyone is interested, here's a comparison between the 2020 and 2024 Olympics (for sailing/surfing I went with their original schedule). The colored squares was the 2020 schedule (blue = qualification only days, gold = medal days) while squares with a letter (Q for qualification only days, F for finals days) is the 2024 schedule. Most sports either stayed the same or shifted one day, but there are some major changes like taekwondo shifting from the first four days to days 11-15.
  10. It was always going to be tough for Canada if they didn't get Qatar. Since we couldn't get Mexico or the United States our best options were Croatia, Switzerland or Uruguay and to be honest none of them are easy matches. I think Group F was our best group outside of A, maybe Group H could be easier...
  11. My bad I thought they were in similar time zones as other Pacific nations
  12. Speaking of surfing, when they say Saturday, which time zone is Saturday? Probably France (which would make Tahiti's time Sunday) or else the surfing event will begin during the same time as the opening ceremony.
  13. That's a big opportunity for Canada, wonder why he made the switch, he's more than capable in the United States.
  14. I mean, they could just make the tournaments, two-day affairs like they usually do in the World Series. Personally I really dislike having events before the opening ceremony. Football is fine because they have to and I can begrudgingly accept team sports like handball, but for something like archery which has no reason. The sport isn't even doing anything on Saturday so it isn't a scheduling issue.
  15. So we have archery, football, handball and rugby sevens starting before the opening ceremony
  16. Sad, but expected. He was already taking a more administrative role lately.
  17. The difference between Los Angeles and Atlanta was 12 years and to be fair they could have gotten the 2024 games if they didn't go for the deal proposed by the IOC and they didn't try a bid for 2020 due to politics. If the 2036 games are going to Europe and Spain isn't good enough that only leaves a small handful of possible nations: countries like etc. don't have the financial clout. Of the six nations, France is too soon and Russia is a non-starter for other reasons. I also don't think the IOC will want to remind people of the 1936 games so Germany is probably not a "preferred candidate" so Great Britain doesn't have much competition. Of course, the games could go to an Asian country in which case and will be the favourites or perhaps they want to go the Brazil route and awarded it to etc.
  18. Great Britain could put in a strong bid too. I'd like to see the Netherlands put in an attempt...
  19. I still think Pot 4 will be a bit more dangerous than Pot 3 thanks to Ecuador, Wales and Peru, though I guess you can be lucky and avoid all three...

  22. Yeah we can get a lot of crazy draw scenarios. One thing that crossed my mind is FIFA didn't explicitly say they will take the remaining balls into account when drawing. So we could have a situation where the last ball in Pot 4 is Ecuador, but Group H has Argentina. Obviously they will switch them with the Pot 4 team in Group G (assuming there isn't another South American team in it), but it will be funny to see them place a team in one group, but being forced to switch them because they didn't have the foresight to place them in the correct group.
  23. Not exactly, because we won't know the winners of the inter-continental match, the CONCACAF/OFC spot will be considered to be from both continents (same for AFC/CONMEBOL), but you can switch New Zealand for an African nation and you'll get the same result...
  24. Yeah, getting Canada in your group means you can't get Mexico/United States from Pot 2.
