  1. You're awful sure about a lot of things that have turned out to be wrong I have too. The important thing is remembering that happens
  2. Sanford is baked in. Katzberg, Rogers and Mitton are good bets in athletics. Breaking and Vincent/Mackenzie in C2 as well. So that's at least six highly likelies. Then we have a lot of toss ups too. 3x3, men's basketball, C1, Arop, 4x100, a couple events in track cycling, etc... and a whole mess of minor threats. If the toss ups convert around 50% and one or two of the minor threats pay off, we're there. There will be disappointments too of course, but it tends to average out.
  3. I said 27-28 It's more an indication that our conversion rate in the first half was probably at the high end... it tends to level out over time, so the second half may not be as kind That's also assuming my projections are accurate, and not just an exercise in my willingness to be wrong publicly
  4. A big night in the pool puts us 1.8 medals ahead of my projections
  5. Thanks for the correction! Still wild it's been that long
  6. For some-reason I thought we did it in trampoline once, but evidently not. Only time I'm aware of is 1928 in the 100m for women thanks to Ethel Smith and Bobbie Rosenfeld of The Matchless Six
  7. A time or two I've had to resort to watching from my office...
  8. Got our buffer back! Put's us about 1.2 medals ahead of pace (I assign probabilities rather than pick medals)
  9. Summer seems a lot more prepared for success than Penny. Penny was suddenly thrown in the deep end with surprise success in Rio, and had a hard time dealing with everything that came with the sudden fame... Summer seems almost nonplus about it. Then again, those around her seem to have been preparing her for it since she was a kid Ruck, I have no idea about. Like I said before, she's a mystery wrapped in an enigma. The occasional flashes of brilliance make the rest of the time so frustrating.
  10. Second. They made it to the quarters in Rio before completely imploding
  11. I tuned in for race walking... this FOMO show is not what I signed up for
  12. I grew up an Expos fan and have followed our soccer teams for decader. I'm attracted to misery and disappointment
  13. Well, I guess if we have to sacrifice a beach volleyball group game for a spot in the tennis semis and a crucial goal in soccer to satisfy the Olympics gods, I'll take it
  14. Sounds like the triathlon is a go to tonight, and the men will follow the women
  15. The organizers were obstinate, and using it as a showpiece was more important than the competition. Not that it's unique to Paris '24, hell, Calgary '88 built ski jumps in an undersized wind tunnel
  16. Apparently Friday, and if they can't swim in the Seine, it'll be a duathlon Not kidding
  17. I had us projected for 27-28, and to have five at this point... so, I think having six is just peachy
  18. The men looked really good in VNL... but a lot of teams were treating VNL like an Olympics pre-season, so, yeah, a bit misleading
