  1. Lakshya Sen in Jonatan Christie's (WR 3) group. Not ideal. Lakshya has lost all of his last 4 matches against Christie in the 3rd set. Let's see. However, if he gets out of the group, he should potentially meet Prannoy in the round of 16 thereby confirming at least one Indian in quarters.
  2. PV Sindhu will potentially meet He Bing Jao (H2H 2-2 post 2021 Olympics) in the round of 16 and Chen Yu Fei (H2H 0-2 post 2021 Olympics) in the quarterfinals. Decent draw. Hoping for the best.
  3. Archery is very unpredictable, especially the individuals. And while Korea will still win 3/4 gold, it is difficult to predict which gold it will lose, so hard to say it is a lock in any event. Additionally, the Korean women's team that has not lost a gold ever probably faces its biggest-ever challenge in the Chinese team that defeated it twice in world cups this year. Agree with the Chinese being lock in ping pong.
  4. 1) On the first day itself. We are decent medal contenders in the mixed 10m Air rifle team event. 2) I am hoping we open our medal tally by at least 29th of July. By that time 5 out of the 10 rifle and pistol events would be completed and the men's and women's team events of Archery. 3) Considering the fact that around half of the sports (boxing, wrestling, badminton, hockey) where we have medal chances are knockout tournaments, it is weird to say which day a medal is won exactly. But if I had to pinpoint a date it would be Day 13. We have Javelin finals, Mirabai Chanu in women's 49 kg weightlifting, and our best 3 wrestlers (Antim in women's 53 kg, Anshu in women's 57 kg and Aman in men's 57 kg) will have their bouts. 4) I dont see any realistic medal chances on the last day - Day 16.
  5. I just went with the Tokyo gold medallists that I felt had the highest chance to repeat. There are definitely others who also are strong contenders for gold including Olivia Reeves .
  6. How has somebody not mentioned Weightlifting till now? It is probably the most predictable sport in the Olympics. Going by the easiest gold medallists, I think Li Fabin (Men's 61 kg), Lasha Talakhadze (Mens 102+kg), Hou Zhihui (Women's 49 kg) and Li Wenwen (Women's 81+kg) are guaranteed gold medallists.
  7. I just realized (a few days ago) that I will not be able to watch more than 3 hours daily due to internship prep. Sighs! Events - Canoe Slalom Men's C-1, Archery Men's team, Shooting 50m 3p both men and women, 400m hurdles men and women both Sports - Archery, Canoeing, Shooting, Wrestling, Athletics Definitely not watching - Equestrian, Football, Breaking, Golf, Sailing
  8. Give seeds through the world rankings. As you pointed out, there is a little bit of a mess in some categories due to countries missing important championships, but overall it still seems like the best approach.
  9. This is such a stupid decision. Why are they deciding the seeding only on the basis of a single tournament? And how is a European or Asian champion almost the same as an Australian or African champion?
  10. So 2 bronze and 2 4th place finishes for the recurve teams in the last world cup and major event before Olympics. Bodes well for our medal hopes in Paris.
  11. 1. 3 medals. A Gold for Sift Kaur Samra in women's 50m rifle 3 positions. 1 silver in mixed 10m air pistol team. 1 bronze for Aishwary Pratap Tomar in men's 50m rifle 3 position. But the truth is we can any number of medals in any event. We have potential medallists in all disciplines. I am just hoping we can handle pressure and win some medals. 2. Obviously at the top. And I agree with the above comment that , , and should be among the countries in top 3. I see underperforming. 3. Sift Kaur Samra(Ind) obviously - she is so cheerful - and the Chinese no 1s in the pistol Jiang Ranxin and Zhang Bowen
