  1. Taekwondo mixed team might be a nice addition, especially given the scoring system might allow for teams with some exceptional athletes to have a higher weighting compared to the judo mixed team.
  2. I am currently away on holiday so I missed the last few days of action. Obviously I want to congratulate the club on being the most active community on Totallympics, and I think its really nice we all have different areas of expertise that we can bring forward. Just briefly on GB’s performance it was very strong in terms of medals, but a bit frustrating on the gold count. But thats just the nature of sport and I’m sure those tight margins will swing the other way in LA. Not really sure that any of the sports need to do any soul searching in the way that Rowing did after Tokyo. Looking forward to LA, I’m hopeful that this could be our biggest overseas team ever, given the inclusion of many team sports. From my reckoning we have the ability to qualify both genders for Baseball/softball, cricket, hockey, flag football, football (mens team rumours dependent), lacrosse and rugby sevens. In terms of ideas for the club heading to LA, I would recommend looking at what some of the other nations had been doing for Paris before it is all removed, for some inspiration. It might be nice to have a designated GB qualification tracker table or a calendar of upcoming GB qualification events. And finally, with the Paralympics not too far away, I hope we can have some kind of forum to discuss events, although likely not as large, given the strength of Para Sports in the UK
  3. Remember that contributor who was convinced that USA basketball could never lose.
  4. Apparently Lyles has covid. Why did he go off in a wheelchair
  5. Did they give sport by sport medal targets for these games? Hard to think of any which have really exceeded expectations, potentially shooting or diving
  6. You think if they get 1st and 2nd at the start they could try to help Emma do a Jason Kenny.
  7. Might be a stupid question but what is the benefit of having one wheel with spokes and gaps in it and the other being a complete disk?
  8. This is a much better format than the windsurfing.
  9. Today feels like a big day today. If we have any chance of beating the Aussies in the medal table I feel we need at least 3 maybe 4 golds out of six.
  10. Athletics: Does Hudson-Smith win gold? Yes Cycling Track: Do we win MEN'S Team Pursuit gold? No Diving: Out of Houlden and Laugher, how many make the final? 2 Golf: Do any Brits end the day in the top ten? yes Sailing: Does BECKETT win gold? No Sport Climbing: Does MCARTHUR qualify? yes
  11. Boxing has to go, yes that one was tighter but I’m certain Richardson won that final round. The IBA started this mess and unless they chance the system it is just too open to corruption
  12. Boo, the only nation I don't want to win.
  13. I think it is one of the only timed events where 'normal' people can really see how incredible the athletes are.
  14. If nobody else goes clear do they have a jump of for Bronze as well as Gold?
  15. Athletics: Do we win a 1500M gold medal? yes Boxing: Does Richardson win? yes Cycling Track: Do we medal?yes Diving: Does Spendolini Sirieix medal?yes Equestrian: Do we get at least one medal?yes Sailing: Does Beckett medal?no Sport Climbing: Is a Brit in the top eight?yes Skateboarding: Does BROWN medal?yes
  16. Watching the womens 3x3 basketball and the Australians had a near identical team to the one that played in the 2022 commonwealth games, and came 5th. England beat those Australians, feels like a missed qualification opportunity.
  17. Just managed to catch up with the cycling after a manic few hours. Obviously really great for the women's team sprint but I also noticed all squads (except for the men's team sprint who missed out by a couple hundreds), broke the British records as well. Carlin really impressed me so hopefully he is in line for some individual silverware as well.
  18. Hamish is a really strong lead climber too so he might be able to get into the final
  19. BBC, but it was after the scores had come through near the end. The point is that whoever loses often things they have been scored harshly and their opponents too well. It happened at the world championships, earlier in the Olympics and will happen again. I will happily hold my hands up and say I though Reilly was robbed of gold in the BMX final, but in the end it is the judges opinions that count.
  20. With gymnastics it is very hard for the normal viewer to spot some mistakes and deductions in a routine. Our commentator said there were a few parts of Andrade's routine which she would be lucky to score on, so I guess the judges spotted them too.
  21. Anning ran way too close to the line for my liking.
