So am I right in thinking our remaining Gold Medal hopes are: Women’s Madison Men’s Madison Women’s Sprint (Finucane) Women’s Pentathlon Events underway are Women’s Heptathlon which is going better than expected, and Men’s Pentathlon which is going worse than hoped. Not sure if any of our remaining taekwondo fighters are favoured? And the rest of our opportunities are really just to medal rather than realistic shots at Gold? I think we will be lucky to hit 15 Gold.

Thanks- this is a really useful guide for the coming days. No doubt there’ll be fine margins in it, but I would personally be disappointed if we don’t hit 60 medals. I think in terms of Golds, it would be good to either match or beat Beijing’s total (19). Perhaps an unrealistic goal at this point. I know people put different weight on the importance of medal table positioning, but I would have liked to stay on top of Australia or France (or both). Top four was certainly within reach I feel, and if you look back on our string of almosts (Women’s Skeet, Men’s BMX Freestyle, Individual Eventing, Men’s Golf, Men’s 100m Breaststroke, Men’s 200m Freestyle) if things had gone the other way we wouldn’t be having these conversations. That I suppose is the nature of sport, you’ll always rue your chances and look back at where improvements could have been made. Certainly not a disappointing performance by Team GB, but hope for some luck in the coming days.

Anyone know how much a judge costs? We can start a whip around to get a medal if it’s still there in LA. What an absolute farce.

Precedent now set. If that happens again and a decision goes the other way surely anyone would just appeal. Officiating across all sorts of events at these Olympics is subpar.
