  1. They just have to get rid of Wengs & Jacobsens first
  2. Given her junior results, she's a versatile all-arounder, sprints, 10k & skiathlon, she can do it all. Norwegians ain't getting any younger, Johaug will be 33yo during the next WCh, Oestberg is okay but was never dominant and Weng is just falling off the cliff now. They have Skistad but they need to find another junior to cover for the veterans. Of course they can find one but Karlsson has a head start already.
  3. Not everyone but Norway & Sweden have a clear edge when it comes to nursing a world class talent.
  4. Right, because Johaug winning bronze in Sapporo 2007 was NOT a sign of things to come?
  5. Really happy for Karlsson! In two years time she could dominate these events
  6. Maes has scored World Cup points already so he's ready to make the transition methinks
  7. I don't know that but if she's not in Top 3 that means she's lost her mojo? I can only speculate how that team changed over the years. The girl who won the mixed gold in Pyeongchang is on her team? Or is she from another rink?
  8. could be IN? 2018 was a BAD year in music though
  9. I don't watch curling that much. Has Jones retired? She did actually f### the quals before like in Vancouver? Obviousy it's harder to become champion than Oympic champion in all honesty.
  10. Ontario wins 9-7. Is like Homan the most popular female athlete in Canada? Can't think of anyone else tbh.
  11. Swden wins! Lampic beats Falla for silver! Only shows how lucky Falla was in the individual sprint! She had nothing on the final straight.
  12. Women's final underway. Polish ES crew says Sweden should beat Norway.
  13. Roni Remme could get her maiden WC podium here...
  14. Polish TV said apparently the snowcat that worked around the finish line damaged the cable that transmitted the data to the official computers With Stuhec injured, it will be either Schmidhofer or Siebenhofer winning the DH globe anyway so I guess Austria gets over this scandal
  15. gets lapped on the 4th leg of women's team sprint
  16. Team Sweden's had enough success already. Nelin, Brorsson & Oeberg all DNS in the pursuit.
  17. Markus Eisenbichler is the 7th individual World Champion who hasn't won a single World Cup event before winning the WC gold. The other 6: Heinz Kuttin (1991 NH) Espen Bredesen (1993 LH) Takanobu Okabe (1995 NH) Tommy Ingebrigtsen (1995 LH) Rok Benkovic (2005 NH) Rune Velta (2015 NH) Ingebrigtsen, Benkovic & Velta never won a World Cup event and Benkovic didn't even finish on the podium once.
  18. Anyone has the team sprint line-ups? Justyna Kowalczyk / Monika Skinder & Maciej Starega / Dominik Bury.
  19. Poland will field Stefan Hula instead of Wolny. Given Zyla's struggles today I'll be shocked if we get onto the podium. Sounds like 1.Germany, 2.Norway, 3.Austria IMO.
  20. You're joking, right? Nobody in World Champs Top 30 and you say about quality? With their history in the sport? Jarkko Maette has never scored a single Top 10 in 8 years of World Cup career and this guy makes the team here? Finland is hilariously bad right now and definitely NOT improving. A drunken Harri Olli could have made this WC ahead of Alammomo & Nouisiaien and he was already from the fading period.
  21. Equipment belongs to the competition factor? This comes at every level, they don't use wooden rackets in tennis anymore but nobody says the level has dropped because Federer doesn't use wood anymore Did you forget about Ammann's ski bindings which apparently gave him the edge before? EVERYONE tries to cheat the system. That comes with the technology jump. Can't blame someone for doing a better job
  22. I follow ski jumping since the days of Weissflog, Ernst Vettori & Andreas Felder. The only team that is really gone is Finland. Everyone else has a better or worse crop of jumpers but they never drop below a certain level. Nobody would put a penny on Toni Nieminen before 1992 either. That's the nature of this sport. It's easy to explode with form and then completely vanish within a few months. Just look where Peter Prevc is now compared to 2016. Kobayashi gets a bad press because Japan was supposed to be a field-filler like in the last decade, he doesn't speak English too and the sport has become European-centric again. The level has actually gone up to the point some hills struggle with the starting gates, some hills are already at Level 1 and can't be modified anymore. That's one thing nobody ever talks about. 130 meters from Gate 15 in 1998 is nothing like 130m from Gate 1 in 2019
  23. It's about him retiring even after the season. People keep forgetting there's a team competition as well even if SUI only fights for Top 8 at best.
  24. If you can name Ammann's replacement for the team competition I'm all ears
