it's already been explained...it's 1 per gender in the Continental qualifications (singles and lightweight double sculls only) and "free for all" (cit. ) for the other boats... so, technically it's possible for Italy to qualify all the boats that have reached the final race...but I'd be satisfied with just the men's Eight flying to Rio...that's the most important goal...anything more than that is good - and maybe the women's Pair and the women's LW Double Scull even have some real chances - but it doesn't touch my heart that much)...

well, you can't ignore him but all of his achievements were in 63kg, and not the Olympic wight of 68 ! he only qualified by points he collected in 63kg events, he is a very dirty fighter, very disgusting. ALWAYS try to show fake injuries and give penalties to his opponents. I don't follow this weight as much as the rest (since Iran didn't qualify narrowly) but I think Lee Dae-hoon is top favorite here, with Tazegul and Denisenko behind him. I think the real competition in this weight will be between those 6 who qualified through ranking. I think considering him among 4-5 favorites is more logical even though I don't give him so much chance for gold.

Why is Mahesh Bhupathi even trying to qualify? He is not eligible to play Olympics. Rule: Players must be part of a nominated team for three Fed Cup (women) or Davis Cup (men) events between the 2012 and 2016 olympics. This requirement is reduced to two Fed/Davis Cup events from 2013 to 2016 if their nation competed at the Zone Group round robin level for three of the four years or if the player has represented their nation at least twenty times. All players must have been part of a nominated team for a Fed/Davis Cup event in 2015 or 2016 Bhupathi is not a part of national team for 4 years now.
