Athing Mu has failed to make the US team for Paris after falling in the 800m trials. I must admit I'm a bit disappointed not to see the battle with Keely and Mora.. but positive news for the Brits' medal hopes.

I guess its pretty difficult to do this in America but if this was Keely or maybe even Jemma they would be put on the team no matter what.

That’s kind of where I am with it tbh.

Reekie has a chance of bronze if she doesn’t try and follow the big 2. If she goes all out for gold I’d worry she dies on the home straight out of the medals

Reekie has a tendency to front run - she must resist that instinct, and basically tuck in behind Hodkinson the entire way - there's just a chance, if she does that, Keely drags her to a medal, possibly even past Moraa.

America is incredibly litigious - if they tried discretionary picks, they'd be drowned in lawsuits.

It wouldn't be a problem if they had the policy written out in advance. They just can't change it midway through the competition!

It would be the same in the UK if both Keely and Jemma fell and the top 2 had the Q. Only one of them would make it.

Men's 100 at the trials, who do we think is getting the 2 spots?

Am hoping hinchliffe, and maybe Prescod?

That event and both 800's and 1500's are what intrigue me the most, everything else should be pretty clear cut, was gonna go but all tickets on home straight are gone and i can't be bothered sitting anywhere else

If I'm talking about who I would like to get the spots, Azu and Hinchliffe.

I'm intrigued for the 400s as well. Relay implications there.

The middle distances are where the real action is at though.

Wondering if a quick UK Athletics Trials prediction thread might be in order...

I’d expect a good win for Charlie Dobson for the win in the 400 with Toby Harries my surprise podium.

Phoebe Gill to shock Reekie and claim the 800m title.

Neita v Dina in the 200m will be a great battle, I’m edging Dina to take it.

other than that I agree with most of these predictions. Possibly Hinchliffe to beat Azu in the 100m.

Mills has dropped the 5k for just the 1500m here.

Pozzi out of the hurdles, which is a shame, although if they did want to select him I guess there's nothing stopping them. No Aimee Pratt either.

For what it is worth (not much), here's my thoughts:

100m - (M) Azu, Hinchliffe, Glave ;  (W) Neita, Hunt, Wedderurn-Goodison

200m - (M) MHS, Quainoo, Efoloko ; (W) DAS, Neita, Agyapong

400m - (M) Dobson, Carvell, Smith ; (W) Anning, Nielsen, Ohuruogo

800m - (M) Pattison, Giles, Sharman-Newell ; (W) Reekie, Gill, Baker

1500m - (M) Wightman, Gourley, Mills ; (W) Muir, Bell, Walcott-Nolan

5000m - (M) Dever, Atkin, Rowe ; (W) Fry, Nuttall, Fitzgerald

3000m SC - (M) Norman, Seddon, Pierce ; (W) Bird, Thorner, Tank

110m H - (M) Bennett, Ojora, King, : (W) Sember, Pawlett, Wakefield

400m H - (M) Chalmers, Faulds, Derbyshire ; (W) Nielsen, Knight, Newnham

HJ - (M) JCK, Grimsey, Jack (W) Lake, KJT, Ferguson

PV - (M) Heard, Hague, Coppell ; (W) Caudrey, Bradshaw, Ashurst

LJ - (M) JFD, Farquhson, Fortheringham ; (W) Hopkins, Irozuru, Olajide

TJ - (M) Falode, Ajala, Bright-Davies ; (W) Ojora, Metzger, Omitowoju

SP - (M) Lincoln, Cameron, Swan ; (W) Vincent, Omoregie, Campbell

Discus - (M) Okoye, Percy, Thompson ; (W) Lally, Law, Oladipo

Hammer - (M) Norris, Ikeji, T Campbell; (W) Purchase, Payne, Mayho
