Expandwhat do you want to look for?
Cause you can always filter the ranking by 3 per country, and that's it
I would like to check all the athletes on the ranking, including those "bubbling under" or the other options from countries with 3 OQT.
It is not available anymore,
Has anybody by any chance printed the "Road to Paris" page last week?
They have just erased all the "non-qualified" athletes and it's such a mayhem now, because they are not even the proper qualified athletes, just the "best 3" from each country and so on...
ExpandThere's almost no such thing as tourists that can qualify to the Olympics anymore. Skiing is the only sport I can think of where mediocre athletes from a big country can still qualify, outside of a few edge cases for some continental quotas.
Someone is always going to finish last, but when only 45 athletes can qualify in the 1500m you're a pretty dang good athlete even if you get the last ranking spot.
I think in this era where there are very tight qualification standards it doesn't make a lot of sense to have internal standards that are harder than the official qualification standard (outside of continental quotas, some of whom do in fact go to athletes that are genuinely not competitive)
Judo could have any country from Oceania sending athletes to WC and getting a quota (Kiribati did that and more could have done it).
Obviously it is not THAT easy, you have to register, have some kind of basic training...
but yeah, there are still a couple of those.
I have a question that maybe dumb but not sure if it is throughly explained on the PDF:
How does reallocation happen AFTER july 7? does it go the same way?
And I wonder if WA will release all Universality places by next week as well
2016 Olympic Champion and 2020 bronze medalist Thiago Braz just got a ruling from CAS to allow him to compete.
He had a good run at Troféu Brasil to someone that was (supposedly) without training for one year or so.
He won with 5.65, but failed his 3 attempts to 5.82.
Silver (Lucas Alisson Pedro) and bronze (Andreas Kreiss) had only 5.00.
ExpandCan the US trials be seen (not live, but on demand) anywhere? I doubt anything non-American shows it and those American things often seem next to impossible to watch if you're not American.
Yesterday I watched here just after the swimming trials https://thetvapp.to/tv/wnbc-new-york-nbc-east-live-stream/

No news on the Perche aux Étoiles? I guess not a good day for Lavillenie?
ExpandI understand that the 4 extra athletes from Spain for the mixed walking relays are AP alternate athletes, they are not quota places and they could only compete in the mixed ones in case of injury or justified cause that will cause the withdrawal of the totulars. For this I go to the qualifying processes where on page 2 it says: Mixed team RW In addition NOC can nominate a maximun total of two AP alternate athletes, one man and one women
On page 9 says AP alternate athletes are non-competing athletes and are not incluides within the athletes quota. AP alternate Athletes can only become competing athletes as per conditions outlined in the Late Replacement policy. I have looked for it and it is due to injury or cause of the owner.
Could someone confirm that I am correct?
Nowhere on the document says that one NOC has to include athletes already nominated. Spain may feel that 2 races over the course of a couple of days is too much and select 10 athletes: 6 for individual and 4 for team. it is completely ok to do so.
Maybe they prefer to keep their strongest options to be relaxed for the team competition. In addition 1 team
Have they indicated who will participate in which?

is probably qualifying in Men's Long Jump, for example.
But for other natios I get it, marathon needs a lot of training and quotas can't be announced too late.
And about
and
, they already broke that rule last year. They do it if they want. For example they gave a quota to
in both men's 1500 and womens 200 last olympic games. So it's not uncommon. Also,
guy likely qualifies by world ranking as he's #81. He only needs one person rejecting their place
It's so sad what happened to Hugo Catrileo,
First of all he was in the top64 on the first deadline, so his quota should have been confirmed by then. But they totally ignored that. And now he was kicked out of the ranking due to the Universality quotas. I wonder if he can still climb back through reallocation.
Expandthe maximum is 5 quotas and not 6? I just realized this
![]()
yeah, the 6th quota is AP. As the 3rd male and 3rd female from mixed.
Updating how many quotas each country guarantees.
The qualification document indicates that each team can take 5 athletes on their gender relay and 4 athletes on their mixed relay
athletes with individual quota MUST participate in the M and F 4x100m and 4x400m, but it doesn't say anything regarding the mixed 4x400m (or I haven't found)
So I'm counting it as 5 (and 2 men and 2 women on the mixed relay), but obviously they could pick someone from 200m, 800m, 400m hurdles, etc.
(AFTER DAY 2)
120 female quotas (55 on 4x100m, 56 on 4x400, 9 on the mixed relay)
120 male quotas (58 on 4x100, 51 on 4x400, 11 on the mixed relay)
wow, it was 50%-50% if my math is right. Obviously, in the end, many if not most of these quotas will come through new EST or individual ranking.

I'm pretty sure they added this now because I don't remember reading before. but the 4x400 mixed is still a bit of blur. Perhaps bigger countries can take other athletes, but in the end I doubt this will happen, so ok.
Expandyes you have to start with 4 quotas (and deduct if they already have any that have the minimums for 100 and 400 m)! I will choose this calculation method as well
I'm sticking to 5 because they will def take an extra. It's more probable that they have 2 reserves (as in 6) than just 4. But as you said, it's just a guess. Sometimes countries choose athletes from other races.
I just checked how many quotas each country qualified today had on its respective 400m or 100m.
The qualification document indicates that each team can take 5 athletes on their gender relay and 4 athletes on their mixed relay (not sure if it's a new addition, I just noticed that). And athletes with individual quota MUST participate in the M and F 4x100m and 4x400m, but it doesn't say anything regarding the mixed 4x400m .
So I'm counting it as 5 (and 2 men and 2 women on the mixed relay), but obviously they could pick someone from 200m, 800m, 400m hurdles, etc
