We almost never have a battle as clear as v
this early on, I wonder if this will continue until the end.
I think this might be the most "top heavy" contest we had in a while, the top songs are getting points from almost everyone so far, we don't have the usual early craziness. There will be some record breaking this time if it continues like this.
If we don't count their own voting where they weren't eligible for points, this is the 5th medal in a row for Germany.

0 points after 6 countries, I guess this is what I get for not sending a quite popular English language song that we had by a Hungarian artist this year. It really is time for me to send something in English for the next contest.
Huh, the English language bias is working even stronger than I expected, Top4 got point from all three countries so far and all of those 4 songs are in English.
Huh, when was the last time the same country got the first two 12 points?
I think we have a record low number of English language songs in this contest, so my prediction is that one of those few songs in English will win.
Pretty good opportunity for
, and for the few countries who went with an English language songs like India, Denmark, Germany.
I think I also have a good idea on what's winning this time, but I am usually wrong, so... But I did get it right last time when France won!
ExpandSome very unexpected stuff in my scorecard this year, TISC keeps on surprising
![]()
Well, my scorecard is the opposite of surprising this time. I am pretty sure this will be the most predictable 12 points I have ever given out, especially once you see the 2-12th placements and realize which song is missing.
For a brief moment I considered sending Carson Coma again, but that would have been a step too far even for me. So instead I am going with another alternative rock band. I was planning to send a different song from them, but that would have likely been too lowkey for the contest. I want to give them at least a slight chance of success, so I have decided to send their most mainstream song from their latest album.
Maybe you have heard of this band before, they are one of the very few Hungarian artists who write songs in English. But their latest album is in Hungarian, so we aren't breaking any long standing traditions, you will have to wait longer to see an English language submission from Hungary. Please welcome Platon Karataev and their single....

(The song was released on October 15, 2021, but the album its featured on was released in the current eligibility period (January 21, 2022): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC8Pl11YwbA
ExpandThat sounds exciting to me

I mean, I don't want to oversell it, I just went with more well-known artists or popular artists recently since I flopped in Open 2020. The artists of the song that I am thinking of submitting are a bit less known than Carson Coma, but they are still kinda mainstream. I am not bold enough to go with something that goes completely against song contest conventions. (I will provide an example in the music thread)
I think I have found the Hungarian submission, but it might be my strangest submission since Open 2020. The Open 2020 Hungarian song got by far the fewest points since I joined this contest, so... I will have to figure out if I want to risk competing for the last place again.
For some reason the acoustic version of the Swedish song isn't blocked in the US and Canada, but the main music video is.
is in.
I just have no idea what to send.
@OlympicIRL it's been a bit quiet, which I assume is a good thing as it should mean that we already got a host? Is ready to host the Annual contest?
ExpandCongratulations
for the victory and @Hipooofor hosting the edition!
Personally, I am very happy to get a 6th place with a song released in the 1960s. Thank you very much to the 16 jurors who voted for the song.
As a curiosity, this has been my 7th participation and the 4th time I finish in 6th place
(Open 2019, Open 2021, Open 2022 and Annual 2020).
I don't know if I made the announcement yet, but I confirm that I will host the Annual edition next year. Hopefully you will have more information regarding dates in January since I need to make sure I will have enough time to prepare everything, but my idea is having the final in mid or late March since I will probably be very busy in April/May, which would make it impossible for me to dedicate enough time to host properly.
I think having the final in March won't be an issue. The only thing you should watch out for is that the first half of March is kinda busy with many winter sport events. March 18-19 is the last busy weekend of the winter sport season, it's probably better to have the final after that (March 25-26 for example)
ExpandBefore the Grand Final I honestly thought Hungary was going to win, I'm sad you didn't get more points

I'm completely biased but you deserved more
No kidding, when I first listened to the song, I was like: "Yep, that's the winner." But I am so rarely right about the TISC winner that I thought I will be wrong again. I guess I am getting better predicting the contest.
Congrats , this win was due. As was the Top10 placements for
and
. Pretty great results in the context of the history of the contest.
I would like to thank everyone who voted for the Hungarian song. Kinda mediocre result for us considering that we went with a mainstream song this time. Maybe I should go back to experimenting. Or maybe I should just push the Irish emergency button. If you can't beat them, join them!
Huh, so this really was the Europeans year at TISC.
Full European podiums in TISC history.

Seems like this was the norm at the start of the contests, then (between 2016 and 2021) the rest of the world had one or more nations on the podium all the time. Now it's back to full European podiums.

Lol, the plot twist after getting 0 points until the end of the first session.
Thanks Denmark!
