The same number of quota places will be allocated in each individual Olympic event at the 53rd World Championship in 2023, which will be held in the Russian Federation. The qualification system for Paris 2024, proposed by the ISSF, is subject to IOC Executive Board review and approval early 2022.
  2. COVID-19 PROTOCOL ANNOUNCEMENT: LUKKO RAUMA – HC BOLZANO CANCELLED The Round of 16 Return Game between Lukko Rauma and HC Bolzano, scheduled for Wednesday evening, has been cancelled as a precautionary measure set by Finnish authorities as a number of players of Lukko Rauma are unavailable due to the Covid-19 protocol. According to the protocol, the CHL’s Covid-19 committee will consult and decide on the consequences. The CHL will inform on the outcome in due course. “Covid-19 Protocol Related Absences” in the CHL can be the result of a number of factors including, among others, an initial positive test which remains unconfirmed until confirmatory testing is completed; mandated isolation for symptomatic individuals; required quarantine as a high-risk close contact; isolation based on a confirmed positive test result and/or; quarantine for travel or other reasons. The CHL will not announce additional details including the precise reason for individual cases.

  7. just one final consideration... with only 16 events, we have 25 Nations getting at least a medal, 10 of them winning at least 1 gold... we have all the Continents (but Oceania) with multiple medals... all the individual events had more than 50 entries (with just 1 athlete per Nation), in some cases even more than 70 (even the team Kumite events had 46 and 51 entries among the men and the women respectively)... but for some reason Karate doesn't deserve to be an Olympic sport, favouring disciplines with less than 10 entries from the usual 5/6 Nations of the usual 2/3 Continents... thank you IOC, thank you! now it's really over...see you in the other sports' threads...

  13. tried the apple tv 4K app... top in terms of picture quality (no doubt about it), very good live broadcast, but no chance to get a replay (even after many hours)...no good... p.s. slightly OT...the ATV app also has a very user friendly "relive Tokyo 2020" section...but all the pictures have that damn 25fps framerate!
  14. see you tomorrow with all the team events gold medal matches...

  19. now...let's get rrrrready to rrrrrumble! time for the Individual Gold Medal matches... to open the afternoon's program, as usual, the Women's Individual Kata, where Sandra Sanchez Jaime wins another Gold Medal, beating in the final Hikaru Ono... chapeau! Sandra... this woman is truly one of the great of the world of sport "pound for pound", she would deserve to be celebrated by mass media a lot more than she already gets... and it's a real shame Karate and athletes like her have been stolen the chance to shine at the Olympic Games after just a single appearance...
