I think that you have to reach the semi finals for the European quota. With near certainty there will be a European match in the QF between group K and L and as long as Dominican Republic is not winning group I there will be another European match (1st group I vs. 2nd group J). I think only Canada can prevent three European teams in the semi finals.

I just did some math on the Italy/Serbia/Dominican Republic group. Let's assume that Domincan Republic and italy will win their games against Puerto Rico. Then there are two possible outcomes: 1) Serbia looses against Dominican Republic -> 1st place in group I goes to Domincan Republic -> 2nd place in group I goes to Italy (and will potentially face USA in the QF) 2) Serbia wins against Dominican Republic -> Serbia/Italy/Dominican Republic are tied -> next criteria is the difference in baskets for the matches between the teams with the same number of points -> Italy is already fixed at 160-163 = -3 -> Domincan Republic is currently at +5 -> Serbia is at -2 => It is not possible for Italy to finish in 1st place (and avoid USA in the QF). It is possible that Italy will finish in 3rd place (if Seribia wins with less than 8 points).

I think that Latvia and Canada will win against Brasilia, so they will have to win against Canada to rech to quarterfinal.

After the surprising loss of Spain it could be Latvia as well in the quarterfinals.

"Verdient gehabt" entweder in dem dem Sinne, dass ihre Leistung in der Vergangenheit schon mal zu einer Medaille gereicht hätte, oder eine nur etwas noch bessere Leistung dieses mal zu einer Medaille gereicht hätte (Sophie Weißenberg war z.B. nur 63 Punkte hinter der Bronze-Medaille). In jedem Fall ist es gut, dass Deutschland zumindest ein paar Athleten in diesem Bereich hat, denn auch in anderen Ländern wird es nächstes Jahr Verletzungen geben oder Athleten die in Paris patzen und dann könnte der Moment für sie kommen. Aber realistischerweise gibt es wirklich nur 2-3 Athleten, denen ich in Normalform eine Medaille zutraue. Malaika Mihambo auf jeden Fall. Und vielleicht kommt Johannes Vetter ja auch wieder in seinen alten Bereich.

A propos Shanice Craft...die hat im Übrigen im Finale mit ihren 65,47m die Olympianorm geworfen. Damit hat Deutschland als einziges Land die Maximalanzahl von 3 Quotenplätzen erreicht. Insgesamt gibt es auch erst 8 Quotenplätze weltweit. Ist halt nur blöd, dass die anderen 5 Werferinnen on-bloc vor den Deutschen liegen

Naja, so richtig sichere Medaillenbänke gibt es auch in anderen Ländern wenige, bzw. einige von ihnen haben bei der WM auch eine ziemliche Bauchlandung hingelegt. Aber zugegebenermaßen hätten alle von dir genannten Athleten wohl im Nachhinein kaum in den Medaillenkampf eingreifen können. In vielen Disziplinen ist das Niveau aktuell in Breite extrem, z.B. Platz 5 mit 5.90m im Stabhochsprung (M) oder 68.20m für Platz 3 im Diskus (F). Und ob eine Gesa Krause eine Zeit von 9 Minuten über 3.000m Hinderniss für eine weitere WM-Medaille drin gehabt hätte wage ich auch zu bezweifeln... Andererseits gab es halt auch Ergebnisse, die durchaus eine Medaile verdient gehabt hätten (Julian Weber, Tobias Potye, Christopher Linke, Kristin Pudenz, Shanice Craft, Sophie Weißenberg).

Ganz miese Leichtathletik-WM aus deutscher Sicht....zugegenermaßen auch einige Medaillenkandidaten verletzt oder außer Form, aber es gab durchaus den einen oder anderen der eine Medaille hätte holen können. Immerhin gab es am letzten Tag noch eine Olympianorm über 3000m Hinderniss für Olivia Gürth.

Der K4 der Männer hat sich neben dem Weltmeistertitel auch das Olympiaticket gesichert (analog zu den Frauen dann auch für K1 und K2). Und in der Rhytmischen Sportgymnastik hat sich heute auch die deutsche Gruppe für Paris qualifiziert. Nachdem man in Tokyo gar nicht vertreten war, ist Deutschland hier in Paris wieder mit der maximalen Anzahl von 7 Teilnehmerinnen in zwei Wettbewerben vertreten (2xEinzel + Gruppe). Insbesondere im Einzel hat man mit Darja Varfolomeev eine echte Medaillenkandidatin, wenn nicht sogar Mitfavoritin auf Gold.

Wobei wir dann auch bei den Schützen nachzählen müssten...der Quotenplatz im Dreistellungskampf der Frauen bedeutet ja gleichzeitig, dass die Teilnehmerin am 10m Luftgewehr Wettkampf und dem Mixed-Wettbewerb teilnehmen kann. Echt schwierig mit diesen Quotenplätzen...

what do you mean by "3 European boats"? France is not pre-qualified, so it will have to finish as the best non-qualified boat at the European Championchips to get the quota.

Btw, if Kathrin Murche really wins the quota, Germany will have 8 quotas already. Beside France as the host with a lot of guaranteed quotas, only China and USA would have more quotas as of today.
